Student hang out on the ave 9/29/2005

Big time is a very relaxed place. There are pool tables in the back for those so inclined. The food here is very good and not expensive. The nachos come on a plate heaping with real cheese. The baked potatoes are very big and smothered in the topping of your choice. The sandwiches have toasted bread and fresh ingredients. I highly recommend this place for any meal anytime of the day. more

Good pizza, better beer in the University District 8/20/2005

Big Time brewery seems to get a brisk business after evening church services on Sunday. And I’m not criticizing. I try to make a regular habit of joining friends after my Protestant worship in the U-district for their thrifty Sunday special—any large pizza ($15.99?) and pitcher of their craft-brewed beer for ONE DOLLAR. Let His grace shine upon all that is good (I’ve particularly enjoyed the fresh, malty Blonde Ale on recent summer nights). more

A U-district tradition, Big Time is a great place to stop in for a beer at lunch, or dinner, or after dinner, or after-after dinner. They have a great selection of home-brewed hoppy beers and regular pub-fare for food. The Nachos are really good, as is my favorite sandwich, The Mufaletta. Don't forget to play shuffleboard in the back... more

Superb beer, good food, fun place 8/16/2005

Big Time is, foremost, a brewery and pub. They brew a dozen varieties of high-quality, West Coast-hoppy ales on premesis, with a few European styles in the mix (on tap now is a Koelsch and a bitter) and the odd strong ale (don't miss Old Sol wheat wine in the summer and Old Woolly barleywine in the winter). There's a good mix of pub food, with surprisingly good chili and soup, pizza, baked potatoes and sandwiches. The staff is laid-back and friendly and there's enough room for big groups. Good food, good atmosphere, but especially, superb beer. more
