Don't waste your time on this wretched place. Simply awful. My friend and I took my bike in because the gear shift is all messed up and it needs a new chain ring. Sorry, I don't have a lot of money and don't own a pretentious/expensive bike. I own a really cheap one that gets me around. My friend warned me that this place has a rep for being awful, but it's close to my apt, which is why we went. \r
It was a Friday afternoon and they were busy, so we waited, no problem, it happens. The service techs were all with customers. A new customer walked in with his bike wheel, apparently the ""right"" brand and one of the techs went over right away to help him. The customer turned to me and said, I think he was first. The tech guy looked at me and said, what can I help you with? I told him I needed a chain ring, etc. He glanced at my cheap Schwinn bike, looked like he was disgusted by it, rolled his eyes and said, ""okay, I'll be with you in a minute."" He then proceeded to help the customer who walked in AFTER I did. At this point, my friend and I walked out. We then drove to Ozone Bikes on Guadalupe and they were very friendly and helpful, took our bikes right away and gave us zero attitude. The manager there was super friendly and chatted up my friend when it turned out they had studied the same thing at U.T. If you are a cooler than thou type who thinks the sun rises from your behind, Bicycle Sport Shop is the place for you. If you are a normal Austin person who is friendly, talkative and enjoys being treated decently, I highly recommend Ozone Bikes.\r
