I visited the Bible Baptist Church on Easter Sunday, hoping to hear the Good News. What I found instead really surprised me. A visiting Pastor spoke of his work with children in the Phillipines and kept asking the congregation to pray for HIM (not the work, not the children) so that HE could continue to bring souls to Christ. Umm, isn't he the messenger? He then proceeded to denegrate the beliefs of Hindus, Catholics, and Mormons, making fun of their beliefs and of them.\r
Perhaps, at some point, the sermon actually got around to the Resurrection. I don't know, because I left. I find it very hard to worship with people who feel it necessary to tear others down in order to build up themselves.\r
To the nice African American gentleman who greeted me at the door, gave me a welcome kit, brought me a bible, and asked if I knew I'd go to heaven, a heart-felt thank you. Your generosity, concern, and smile almost made up for the sermon.
Pros: Very friendly congregation, welcomed me with open arms
Cons: Preacher seemed ego-centric
