I read through the list of reviews and noticed that this listing could really use some more informed and objective information.
I attend Bible Truth Tabernacle, but I'm not necessarily writing an emotional endorsement of the church. My goal is to be factual and informative about it.
Bible Truth Tabernacle began to grow in Bedford in 1994. As of this date, there are approximately 200 regular attendees of the church. The Pastor's name is Wayne Lawhorn. They are of ""Apostolic faith"". Their holy text is the Bible. They preach salvation can only be obtained through Jesus. They believe in repentance, baptism in Jesus' name, and the in-filling of the Holy Ghost, (Acts 2:38). They do have a Christian School with a reputable curriculum. The education is remarably thorough. It spans Kindergarten through 12th grade. Most graduates go on to college or enter a skilled trade.
I have attended this church faithfully for over 15 years and I can also speak of the things that I have *not* witnessed. (There are many rumors that float around in this little town and unfortunately they are not easily dispelled by facts.)
I have never seen or heard of anyone giving the pastor their paycheck. I've never given the Pastor my paycheck, nor has he asked for it. The pastor doesn't take people's money and keep it for himself. That fact is clearly evidenced by the new facility that is being built there, debt free. Greedy pastors have mansions while their church buildings fall into debt and disrepair.
I have never heard of or seen men taking people's tvs from their homes and smashing them, (lol, I can't believ ppl believe this stuff! lol!!) The pastor does preach against the corrupt influences that televison or filthy media impose upon the family. Who can argue that? Even psychologists have warned our generation against the negative influence of tv and unfiltered internet exposure.
The church does emphasize the preached word, prayer, and worship. The worship style is exhuberant and yes, some ""fogies"" may consider it to be ""loud"" :)
This church isn't going to fit everybody's style. If you are looking for a loving and helpful congregation. This is that place. There are many young families and an active sunday school program.
If your searching for the presence of God, it is very powerful here. I can't speak for what others have felt, (maybe their attitude effects what they feel?) but, I feel more hope for my soul in that church than any other. Growing up, I always felt like churches were condemning with no real direction of how to change. This church makes me feel like there is a ""way out"" from the negative cycles in this world.
But, it all boils down to... why don't you come see for yourself? Judge for yourself. Then let others judge for themselves as well. :)
