So "your God"feels it is more important for you to worship him than to protect your fellow man by staying home and not spreading the virus. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

I truely have to say that many hate the word obedience. I'm not talking about obedience to man but to God. True that if you are under a pastor that causes you to fear or is dictating you to dress or whatever a certain way then yes maybe you should leave. Only God can change a person, but............how shall they hear without a preacher?Romans 10:14. The Lord appoints us leaders and its a dangerous thing to slander a man of God. I have never been to this church but I have been to others like it that Preach the word of God. I can tell you that the Word of God teaches a women on how she should dress but we are not of course to judge on how someone dresses. We don't want attention drawn to ourselves because all focus should be on the Lord not on causing someone to lust. The way we carry ourselves and dress can cause someone to lust and that is against the Word of God.Thats why it is important to study for yourselves and not only believe man. We tend to take scripture to fit the way we want to live such as if a man of God teaches us something from the Word of God and we don't like it we tend to listen to what other pasters say til we find one that says what we want to hear. Thats called what the bible describes as having ""ichy ears"". For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.2 Timothy 4:3 . Grant it that I agree that some have attitudes in restraunts complaining about food.I myself witnessed it in department stores but thats not everyone and anyone can behave that way. But remember if you are complaining about their actions does that make you any better by complaining because it doesn't fit you? Then just find a place that will fit your agenda, but the main thing is to seek the Lord and he will direct your path. more

This church is nothing but a cult. I have lived in Bedford for 4 years now and have watched this travesty unravel over time. I am a sweet loving person who tries my best to accept everyone as they are. These people who go to this church and believe the pastors lies are plain evil to everyone they meet. I used to work at a local restaurant as a closing manager and they (like another poster said) would come in right before closing ordered everything and complained about it all (even though it was all fresh hot food) and demanded it for free then left a huge mess and left 30 minutes or more after closing. They disrespect anyone who doesn't do as they do and kiss there pastors butt. Then on another occasion me and my disabled husband were at the store and he was in a motorized wheel chair and a lady I recognized from that church ran straight into him with her art and if it wasn't for him saying not to do anything about it. They have been taught that don't go to there ""church"" or believe there beliefs are dirt and to treat them as such. I really wish that they could see the error of there ways. more

An Objective, Factual Review 11/10/2011

I read through the list of reviews and noticed that this listing could really use some more informed and objective information. I attend Bible Truth Tabernacle, but I'm not necessarily writing an emotional endorsement of the church. My goal is to be factual and informative about it. Bible Truth Tabernacle began to grow in Bedford in 1994. As of this date, there are approximately 200 regular attendees of the church. The Pastor's name is Wayne Lawhorn. They are of ""Apostolic faith"". Their holy text is the Bible. They preach salvation can only be obtained through Jesus. They believe in repentance, baptism in Jesus' name, and the in-filling of the Holy Ghost, (Acts 2:38). They do have a Christian School with a reputable curriculum. The education is remarably thorough. It spans Kindergarten through 12th grade. Most graduates go on to college or enter a skilled trade. I have attended this church faithfully for over 15 years and I can also speak of the things that I have *not* witnessed. (There are many rumors that float around in this little town and unfortunately they are not easily dispelled by facts.) I have never seen or heard of anyone giving the pastor their paycheck. I've never given the Pastor my paycheck, nor has he asked for it. The pastor doesn't take people's money and keep it for himself. That fact is clearly evidenced by the new facility that is being built there, debt free. Greedy pastors have mansions while their church buildings fall into debt and disrepair. I have never heard of or seen men taking people's tvs from their homes and smashing them, (lol, I can't believ ppl believe this stuff! lol!!) The pastor does preach against the corrupt influences that televison or filthy media impose upon the family. Who can argue that? Even psychologists have warned our generation against the negative influence of tv and unfiltered internet exposure. The church does emphasize the preached word, prayer, and worship. The worship style is exhuberant and yes, some ""fogies"" may consider it to be ""loud"" :) This church isn't going to fit everybody's style. If you are looking for a loving and helpful congregation. This is that place. There are many young families and an active sunday school program. If your searching for the presence of God, it is very powerful here. I can't speak for what others have felt, (maybe their attitude effects what they feel?) but, I feel more hope for my soul in that church than any other. Growing up, I always felt like churches were condemning with no real direction of how to change. This church makes me feel like there is a ""way out"" from the negative cycles in this world. But, it all boils down to... why don't you come see for yourself? Judge for yourself. Then let others judge for themselves as well. :) more

Thoughts on a Church filled with lies 10/24/2011

This place is nothing more than a cult. They claim to preach from the Bible, when really they just interpret it in a way that fits the pastor's beliefs. This pastor is a bully and a manipulator. Anyone who knows anything about the Bible would realize quickly that this church DOES NOT preach truth from the Bible. It's sad that they do not know the Lord for who He really is....full of love, grace, and mercy...and so many other things. It makes me pray for the people who go there and get brainwashed day in and day out. My research has shown that people who are lucky enough to get out of this type of ""cult"" (locally or not)are so thankful to learn the truth before it is too late. more

this placed changed my life 9/13/2011

I actually attend this church and I absolutely love it. My life has changed a lot in an amazing way. People may think it's a cult or think that the pastor is being unreal or not teaching the truth in all honestly if you really listen to him he is . Read the Bible and then tell me that this man isn't the man of truth. The way we dress and believe isn't because of any kinda dictatorship it's God who has convicted us. I thought all the things about being a cult and when I first started going but when I don't go I feel a bad spirit. I know everyone has a different believe but Pastor is not judgemental or false. If you would actually go and really open your heart and listen you would know that it's God speaking through him not just some random man preaching. more

False Preacher 2/5/2011

I have family that goes to the church and I've been to it a couple of times with them.I stood next to him one time during the service and felt nothing but an evil spirit from the pastor. He is a false teacher of God's word and has brainwashed every in that church NO man should have control over people like he does to the people of the church.I only hope and pray that my family will one day come their senses and get out of the church. more

Very Loud 9/29/2010

I attended on a few occassions. The people were very judgemental. The pastor called men that wore jewelry , had a modern hair style, or facial hair que--rs, and judged various Churches. They believe they are the only ones that will be saved and you must speak in tongues. The pastor does not have formal seminary training and does not like to discuss theology with ones that do. The music is loud and the people jump up and down. VERY JUDGEMENTAL. No television, so they stay ignorant of current events unless you have a radio. Most of them are friendly and some are rather rude. Over all I think they are good people just living in a cult like atmosphere. They never speak of Love or the kindness and forgiving God. ""I have never seen them give an altar call."" The sermons are negative and they scream during the message they receive from the Holy Spirit. Always negative and you leave feeling sad. They do have computers and tell me they can watch "" Shows on them."" The young people are mostly home schooled at the church and I would assume its not accrediated so College would be hard to get into. I like the people and think they are doing the best they can. They just need to understand that Jesus Christ will judge and they can leave it up to HIm as to who is wrong or right. Jesus said "" I have people that are not of this fold. Do you suppose He has other people in other Churches that love and adore Him? more

Great pastor 1/18/2010

I have never been to this church, but I have heard recordings of their pastor. He is a very good preacher and cares about the people in his church. He is also a talented musician and has recorded many good CDs. Granted, he does believe in holding a dress standard in church (No shorts, pants on women, etc.) Does that make them a cult? Doesn't McDonald's have a dress code also? The U.S. Army? They're not a cult. Pros: Preaches the truth of God's word to keep you out of Hell. more

Leadership is Prideful 9/17/2009

Don't go to a church who claims they have a market on the ""whole truth."" No one church has ALL truth & the church is made up of many groups. Any gifted leader who lifts himself up & allows people to exalt him is in danger of falling. BBT preaches you can not be saved unless you are baptized. Control by fear is not of God. 2 Tim 1:7 BBT isolates you from other Christians, Christian TV where you can learn from others, will control your dress, hair, makeup, jewelry, no beards or mustaches. May break up your marriage. Pastor says ""half of sleazy, slimy Charismatic Pentecostals are Q..eers."" Pros: Salvation through Jesus Christ Cons: Pastor has spirit of control, Divisive for wrong reasons more

Another freak show 12/1/2008

Nice church if you like cults. U.S. equivalent of the Muslim extremists. Suckered it's members out of their money to build a bigger building, which, no doubt, they will call a ""temple."" Another organization that preys on peoples fears. more
