I have been going to Kristie for over a year now. She did my hair for my daughter's wedding, she cuts and colors it, and she cuts my bangs for free in between appointments, since I always have my next appointment booked. I totally trust her, and I have liked my cut and color every time! I highly recommend Kristie; I have never been disappointed! I also use Bumble and Bumble products which they sell, and she has made great recommendations for products for my hair. more

I'm new to Richmond and came here based on the other reviews. I'm sorry I did, to say the least. I had very long, layered hair and wanted something shorter and updated. I'm really not hard to please, and I brought in several pictures to give the stylist some idea of what I was looking for. I did not ask her to replicate a certain cut, just to create a cut generally along the same lines as those in the pictures. Basically, I was looking for something professional, but ended up looking like a high school cheerleader with a cut that doesn't share a single characteristic with any of the cuts I said I liked. Also, the entire process from wash to dry took maybe 25 minutes. For someone with hair halfway down her back who is asking for a big change, that is simply ridiculous. Finally, I have never in my adult life had my hair cut without the stylist using a single product. I'm not sure what that was about, other than an attempt to save time. Incidentally, about 10 minutes into my cut, the receptionist notified the stylist that her next appointment was waiting. I could go on, but in short, there was nothing positive about my experience at this salon and I'm not very happy about paying $55 for absolutely nothing. I must say that I tried this place after many recommendations from fellow curly coarse hair friends. I was so thrilled - Debra was a saint, she cut my hair and chose a style for me that is so easy to handle and tames my hair...the products were great as well! Told all of my friends and family with same hair about her! Thanks to the great receptionist who was super friendly and super sweet...think name was Diane! more

I didn't feel like Richmond was my home until I found Beyond the Fringe. Thank goodness for the co-worker who referred me to Cyndi. Cyndi is a great stylist, she takes professional pride in her work, she does wonders with short hair, and as I've been growing it out she continues to work with me. I've referred a few friends who have also been very happy with her work. The stylists in the chairs by her are all friendly and helpful as well. I had a great wax job there and the receptionist is the friendliest in all of Richmond. All the stylist treat the shampoo-ers well and take time to teach the newer stylists. This place is top notch and has made my life in Richmond a better place - been a customer since 1998! more

As the owner of Beyond the Fringe for 20 years I deeply resent the implication that money was stolen from a client in my salon. I know that is not the case and I have never had money stolen since being in business. The client had the right to critique the work that was done in the salon but not the moral fiber of those working here. I stand by my staff and my clients in their honesty. more

I saw Sharon and she did my highlights. She worked quickly and efficiently. I did not get an exact match to the highlights I already had, so ta da, I have a distinct rootline! I think Sharon is a better than average colorist. The shop was crowded and there was no place to lock up my handbag, or put my top. I've been going to Beyond the Fringe (Deborah) for about 8 years now. When I moved to Richmond, I needed a stylist who knew how to style my stick straight fine hair and who would listen to my needs (busy mom, no time) and wants (easy to style, quick, layered). I was tired of haircuts that were choppy, uneven and took hours of styling and products to look good. I've always had a difficult time finding people to trust with my hair. The last person who styled it refused to cut it as short as I wanted, so by the time I talked myself into going someplace for a trim any hint of the style I had originally wanted had disappeared. They scheduled me with Diana. She listened to everything I described and then cut my hair so it looked perfect! She took into account my hair type and thickness as well as the shape of my face. When I got back to work after the appointment everyone noticed and commented. The best part is, I was actually able to replicate how she styled it with minimal effort and products. Beyond the Fringe has excellent service and products. I have been getting my hair highlighted and cut there for years and have always been pleased. They have recently started carrying the Bumble and Bumble hair care line which is AWESOME!!! They offer waxing, pedi and manicures and facials, I do not need to go anywhere else. I was out here looking up resturants and thought that I would give a thumbs up to such a great salon!! more

I've been trying to find a hair salon near me that I could start going to. I called around a bunch of places, but this one had the friendliest and most imformative receptionist that answered the phone. I had long hair and wanted a new style. The stylist I had Sharon was awesome. She worked quick and cut my hair perfectly. Everyone there was friendly since the time I walked in to the door until the time I left. They also have skin care. They let me have a free sample of face wash for acne skin and it fills awesome. You really get what you paid for there. Pros: perfect atmosphere, friendly, trendy new looks more
