Bety's

Bety's is the best authentic mexican food in San Diego! Here in San Diego there is definitely no shortage of mexican food, but to find authentic mexican food that doesn't make your stomach hurt is a tad bit more difficult. Bety's is hidden in a small strip mall in Encinitas, it is a simple setting, with modest out door seating next to a nice flowing fountain. What makes this place even better is that it is a family run business. Walk into Bety's on any given day and you will likely be greeted by her son wearing a huge smile and a kick ass Mohawk. I feel like a guest in their home, not in their restaurant. The best part of Bety's is the food..duh! I can't say that I have tried many things on the menu because I immediately fell in love with their chicken enchiladas which my boyfriend and I usually share along with a Sope and of course their chips and salsa. Everything is so fresh, and not at all greasy which seems to be the problem with other mexican around town. Bety's also has bottled beer and wine, along with yummy Mexican Coke and other pure cane sodas. The prices at Bety's allow for more frequent visits because it won't break the bank. Bety's is my one and only when I want mexican. more

I'm new to the Encinitas area and am working my through the various Mexican restaurant in the area. Betty's Tacos Restaurant was a nice surprise. I thought it was going to be a typical no frills taco shop, but it turned out to be a small restaurant where you can sit down and relax for a few minutes. The service speed was fine and ""Betty's"" family actually works in the restaurant which gives it a more familiar atmosphere. The only real downer, I think, is its location. It's located in a unmemorable strip mall. They make the most of it and have some outside seating if you're an outside eating type of person.
