Nightmare 5/27/2017

God help you if you need to reach a family member on a telephone. If they answer the phone at all -"We are busy - call back" they are usually talking to someone else when they pick up the phone. They have no idea what they are doing. I wanted the telephone number for Rich DeMio but they would not give it to me. It has been a horror being far away and not being able to reach my Mom in days. more

Worst Experience Ever 12/9/2016

I would give this facility a zero if possible. If you do not stay on top of the staff and your family member's care, you will be in for a world of trouble and disappointment. This facility came highly recommended for my father after an 11 day stay at Danbury Hospital. The nursing staff keeps the clients waiting constantly. They also NEVER had my dad ready for his occupational and physical therapy appointments. Despite numerous attempts, I was never able to speak to my father's case worker until I called one day from my dad's room phone(you cannot get service with your cell phone at this facility) and she said she wanted to speak to me about discharge for my dad. When we finally met, she (Cindy Fields) seemed to know almost nothing about his care. My father had not been eating at ALL even with me bringing food from home and he was still having embarrassing bathroom accidents that impaired his therapy appointments. and his case worker knew none of this. She also did not know he had a catheter in place that was still to be addressed medically on the very day he was to be discharged. We had no idea if my dad was going to be able to have the catheter removed or have a permanent catheter instead. She also never addressed my phone concerns about living alone and having to go up stairs to enter his home. My father had still not been cleared to walk alone with his walker at this time but he was expected to cook and clean for himself with very little help from outside sources. No home or family evaluation was ever conducted via interviews or home visits. My father was frequently in the same clothing for 3 or more days in a row. He was only changed when he had an accident. I made sure he had plenty of clean clothes available at all times and spent 3 hours every day with him. I feel this facility was just setting my father up to fail. I can only hope he will not deteriorate at home. I will do MY best to make sure that does not happen- only wish Bethel rehab had done their best to ensure his success. more

Stay Far Away From Here! 11/12/2014

I cannot rate it because it does not let me give zero. My mother was transferred there from Danbury Hospital after a lumbar cement procedure to repair a fractured lumbar. The procedure was a huge success and her pain level was zero. Her first day at Bethel Healthcare during her shower, her OT did not help her, did not give her the necessary and proper tools she needed as she is not allowed to bend, and as a result mom bent to wash her feet and immediately felt pain in her back again. Due to the fact that she was again bed ridden and could not do PT they ousted her. They did not even notify that she was being ousted - we just happened to call nurse station to see how she was doing and they informed us they called 911 and she was being transported back to Danbury Hospital withing the hour! An MRI was done yesterday showing a complete NEW fracture as a result of Bethel Healthcare's negligence. She not only is not a candidate for the procedure again, but she is not tolerating the drugs needed to keep her pain free and may be like this for the rest of her life. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! more

My grandmother went here after a stroke and we found it wonderful. They were very good at updating families and keeping us involved in her treatment. She also liked them as well and said many good things about all of the nurses (although her roommate snored). They also had quite good food (if that is important to you) and they allowed family members to come and join the patient for meals, which I thought was wonderful. more
