CAUTION: Englander 100% latex - proceed with caution if you're moving out of the Los Angeles area. Good news is that Mattress King has great prices and delivers promptly. Bad news is that if you move out of the SoCal area and there's a problem with your Englander mattress, you'll have to pay to have it shipped to the Medi-Pedic factory for service - not cool! After spending many hours discerning among options, I choose Mattress King's 100% latex 'chiropractic' Englander mattress because the showroom model provided consistently very firm/hard support across the top of the mattress -- it felt much more firm than other latex models I had tried. On Aug 24, 2010, I paid $1425 for a queen Englander 100% latex 'chiropractic', mattress protector, and delivery. The mattress was quickly delivered to me as promised on time to go straight onto the moving truck before I departed Los Angeles (so I did not unpack or try it before moving out of the area). When I unpacked and set-up this mattress in my new home out-of-state, it was very clear that the unit I had been delivered was not constructed the same as the model on the floor that I had spent hours choosing - you sink into the mattress after leaving the reinforced sides. After three months of way too many phone calls with Mattress King and the Medi-Pedic factory that manufactures the Englander brand in that area (I had to keep calling to ask them to resolve this issue), I was not able to get satisfactory resolution to this mattress problem. Medi-Pedic did eventually ship me a latex topper they said would compensate for the lack of consistent firmness across the top of my mattress, but that has only added a 'cushion' layer and has not solved the problem with the mattress itself, which is not as firm as the showroom model. To make matters worse, one of the owners/managers at the Medi-Pedic factory told me that there are natural inconsistencies among 100% latex mattresses and that the salesperson should have explained that what I received at home might not feel like what I was experiencing in the showroom. Bottom-line, now that I'm out of their service area, neither Mattress King or Medi-Pedic has offered to make this right at their expense. Just before Christmas, I received warranty paperwork explaining that it's up to me to spend hundreds of dollars to ship the mattress to/from SoCal for service. After spending over a thousand dollars on this sucker in the first place, this is not at all the customer service I was lead to expect. So, bottom-line, be very aware if you're buying the Englander 100% latex that 1) what we you receive in your home might not feel as firm/supportive as what you experienced in the showroom... and, 2) if you move out of Medi-Pedic's southern California service area, you'll be asked to pay for any warranty service.
