I found that the theatre was very clean and the staff was very helpful getting everyone to their seats. I’ve seen a variety of performances here during my travels to NYC and it seems that every seat in the theatre gives me a clear view of the stage. Whenever I have the opportunity to see a show at this theatre, I try to take it – simply because, in my opinion, it’s the best in the city. Now if only all of the best acts would come to the theatre, I’d be set. more

Nokia Theater, NYC 2/22/2008

Very good venue in itself... Good lines of vision to the stage, good PA system and sound quality. Very intimate space and freindly decor.\r The box office at the place is great and lets you avoid Ticketbastard charges... you can buy tix until 2 hours after the show!\r \r Would be a five star venue if it wasn't for the security ""team"" they have at the place... total scumbags at the entrance who don't know what they're searching for but will make you empty your cigarette pack before entering 9even though they have no right to do so). Later in the night, the NYPD had blocked people inside the building during the set break due to ""falling glass from the building"", and security was instructed to not let anybody outside. No big deal if it was from a police order, but the security wouldn't make the simple concession of letting people know why they were keeping us all herded inside like a bunch of cattle.\r \r So go any enjoy a good show at a good venue, but watch out for those security who are either A) pseudo-pigs who are obviously still mad they failed their civil service tests and are forced to work at jamband shows\r B) degenerate losers out to steal as much mary jane and bottled water they can from people going to the shows with their meager amounts of power. more

Cool venue in a fun location 9/12/2006

I've seen many concerts at the Nokia theater, and had a great time every time. It has most of what you can ask of a venue--a nice space, a good sound system, a cool lobby, and bathrooms that don't generate huge lines. At the general admission shows I attended, there was an open floor in front and seating in the back, and you could roam between the two--however the seats get taken up pretty quickly, so if you don't like to stand, you should get there early. For some events, folding chairs are used on the floor. One nit-pick is that if the show is a sold out one, there can be long waits for alcohol, even though there are three bars. Another is that 2,100 is an ambitious capacity for the space. It can get pretty packed even under that figure. Update 1/18/08: downgraded from 5 stars to 4 stars. Reason: Overcrowding. Pros: Location, Sound System, Overall Design Cons: Can feel over-crowded when at or near capacity more
