I had been wearing glasses since the age of five and I got my first pair of contact lenses my freshman year in high school. At the age of thirty one, I decided that I no longer wanted to deal with irratated red eyes due to my hard lenses and I did not want to sport my glasses. They were so thick that if you put them on you could see into the future! The doctors at Berkeley were so caring and professional every step of the way. From my first consultation, to my eye exam, to my Lasik procedure, to my follow-ups, the entire staff was extremely knowledgeable and thorough. I use to be -9 in both eyes (almost blind) and I am now seeing 20/20! The procedure is pretty quick and painless and the doctors at Berkeley know exactly what they are doing. If you decide that its time to get Lasik, do like I did and go with the best. Don't trust your eyes to just anyone, at Berkeley your in good hands. more

When my glasses broke last week, my husband said for the hundredth time, “Get the lasik.” From him I had heard every compelling reason—from “it pays for itself after several rounds of glasses” to “it gives you a sense of freedom from the moment you wake up in the morning.” He spoke from an expert’s viewpoint because he had had Berkeley’s procedure done eight years before and was a strong advocate of the process. He also reminded me about the “hero’s discount” for teachers—another good reason for both of us having it done. So on Tuesday I called for an appointment and was scheduled two days later for the consultation and then the next day, Friday, for the procedure. The surgery and post-op were fast, thorough, and professionally done. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to drive to and attend a four-day teachers’ conference beginning the following Monday, but was assured that I would have no problems. And I didn’t. I’m completely satisfied with the quality of the Berkeley Eye Center service and very pleased with the outcome of the procedure; I just wish that I had come in sooner. more

The staff makes you feel very safe before, during and after de lasik, they explain every single step of the surgery, all the steps to do the day of surgery and all that you can expect after the surgery, the costs are worth every single penny after the surgery, i used glasses for 15 years and after lasik i am the happiest person on earth.... I have had glasses since I was in 5th grade. I suffered from an astigmatism so I always hated wearing the double prescription contacts. I looked into getting lasik eye surgery after relatives had it done. I was nervous at first, but having gone through it once, I would do it a million times. It really was quick and simple. There was no pain and the difference was mind blowing. I now have perfect 20/20 vision and I sometimes forget that I used to wear glasses in the first place. It takes looking at old pictures to remind me! Everyone at Berkeleye Eye Center was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They took making sure I was comfortable and relaxed very seriously. I went in to for the free consultation and found out that I was a good candidate for Lasik. I was a little scared but the staff put me at ease. They walked me through the process and explained what I would need the day of the procedure and what to expect afterwards. The procedure was very quick and just like that....I did not need glasses anymore. I rested my eyes for a day or two, then after that I did not have any discomfort at all. I am SOOO happy that I made the decision to have Lasik at Berkeley Eye Center. Pros: very friendly doctor and staff Cons: none more

I went to Berkley for a consult on Lasik 2 months ago. The staff is friendly for the most part and knowledgeable. I received a tour of their facility and the inital test were run by a treatment coordinator. I am assuming that was her title because she never told me. I was not introduced to a doctor or even examined by one during my consult, which was free of charge. I was told that if I decided to schedule my lasik with them then I would have to come back again to be evaluated by a docotor to make sure I was a good lasik candidate. I found this inconvienent. Also, while I did not expect this procedure to be inexpensive, I found Berkley to be very highly priced. The first available appointment they had was about 4 weeks away. I did not schedule my surgery with them and by the time they called me to follow I had already had my lasik done by Woodlands Custom Vision in Market Street. Woodland's Custom Vision had their surgical assistant run all my initial tests, show me around their facility, made sure I saw a doctor to make sure I was a candidate immediatley, they were less expensive (with higher quality equipment based on my assesment), and they got me in within 10 days.
