John Barret does the best blonde....hands down! Pros: blonde Cons: price

Worst

I feel bad for the staff who work at this beautiful salon. They have been taken hostage by a front desk staff that runs the salon like gypsies or a cheap used car dealership. I ...

Unbelievably HORRIBLE 3/8/2005

I asked the colorist at John Barrett for ""a few blonde highlights"" making sure my ""natural color showed through"", what I walked out with was ORANGE HAIR!!! Absoultely unbelievable. After putting a ridculous amount of blonde dye on my hair, the colorist then put, without asking, a gold colored gloss on top of the color. I walked out of the salon with my money in my pocket and a head of ORANGE HAIR. Blow dry staff was also beyond rude and very controlling. I DO NOT recommend going to this overrated salon! more

Don't go! $60 Pedicure Not Worth It! 8/2/2003

$60 pedicure...it had to be fabulous, right? First, they scheduled me for the wrong appointment time....not too bad though--only a 10 minute wait. Then....the ""private pedicure room"" touted on their web site is just an open back area everyone feels free to walk in. The area there a mess (e.g., garbage pail full of dirty towels overflowing onto the floor). My tub faucet was broken. The pedicurist made the water too hot. She admitted later she forgot to give me a hot towel. She even answered a cell phone call during my pedicure! The only good thing was a thorough exfoliation. Otherwise, it was awkward, bright and loud, with poor service from the pedicurist and no respect for privacy from every other person in the salon. Bottom line: this is the most expensive pedicure I've had and it was not worth it at all. Live and learn. Pros: good exfoliation Cons: expensive more

Vinchenzo is the best hair stylist in NY 1/28/2003

I think the salon is fine but more importantly they have some of the best hair stylists in manhattan. I have been going to Vinchenzo for 8 Years..he used to work at Kim Lepine. He is the best..i promise you will never want anyone else to cut your hair after you meet him. Pros: Vinchenzo, Vinchenzo, Vinchenzo more

Great cuts / OK service 10/30/2002

Each cut I've received here has been excellent. Avoid the manicures/pedicures - expensive and not skillfully done. Overall atmosphere is too busy to be a place to relax. They treat you a bit like cattle - ushering you here and there. But again, great cuts. Pros: great cuts, great views Cons: too busy, sloppy manicures more

  • The Scene
What this tall, slim store lacks in size, it makes up for in poshness and intricate presentation. Each floor sends you in circles where you do lap after lap, marveling at how people spend their dough. It's pricey and items are arranged with immaculate attention to detail: i.e., by color, texture and country of origin on the housewares floor.

    The Goods
All the top luxury designers are here, each with their own little branded area. But what's more, Bergdorf has an incomparable fine jewelry selection, an antiques gallery, gourmet foods, personalized stationery and a name that means you've made it. Not to mention an optical shop, florist, fur salon, John Barrett Salon, Susan Ciminelli Day Spa and opulent store credit card awards. There's also a small, stunning eveningwear collection on the fourth floor.
