My wife brought our Dodge pickup and Honda CRV in to get worked on. They charged us over $3000 and kept the vehicles for weeks. Other mechanics later informed us that a part we we...

Great Service 2/27/2010

They did a free diagnosis of both my cars to give me an estimate of how much it would cost to fix & maintain my cars. They did this in 1 1/2 hours and were very thorough, friendly & patient with me as I went through the list to prioritize what needed to be done first. They didn't pressure me to make a decision. I was previously told by another mechanic that I would need to replace one stem on my wheel hub since it was stripped. That was going to cost me $90. The Ben White folks diagnosed it & stated that all I needed was a new $5 lug nut, which saved me $85+. Pros: Quick Diagnosis of Car Maintenance Needs Cons: A tad pricier than competition more

Very Happy with service 2/26/2010

Excellent and Professional Service 2/24/2010

...another happy camper from benwhiteauto/North 2/20/2010

When I walked in the shop,Mr.Gary Anders greeted me and asked me if he can be of any help. I did explained to him about the problem of my daughter's car and handed me the form to fill up.He came back to me right away and told me what needs to be done and how much it's going to cost me to do the job.Just to be honest;my first impression with this company was superb above and beyond my expectation compare to other shop I previously went to.Also not to mention the mechanic who did the work on the car,Mr. Lara Raymond- they all did an excellent job;honest and straightforward.I can assure you,I left that shop a very happy man and I will HIGHLY recommend them to all my friends.God Bless You All !!! Pros: excellent service-nice people Cons: I did a walk-in visit for a big job-I have to wait more

great service 1/13/2010

Brought my Kia in for brakes, they had it done quickly, cheaper than the competition and Pros: Quick and Friendly more

Trustworthy mechanics 1/13/2010

Hard to find mechanics today that you feel like will be honest with you and only sell you what you need. If Ben White Auto can do it more economically, they make it happen. Good people! Pros: thorough and reasonable more

Quick turnaround, good customer service 1/10/2010

I frantically limped into Ben White North with my power-steeringless car right at closing time, and my mood was definitely improved by the helpfulness of the two men at the counter. They didn't mind my last-minute drop-in, and put my mind at ease as I left my car. I'd had the car looked at elsewhere and knew it likely needed a new steering rack, but Ben White also asked to replace the tie rods. I was leery of agreeing to unnecessary work and asked why it was necessary, and I got a helpful explanation that made me feel better about the extra expense. My car was repaired in right around a day, and with the shop conveniently located just off 183, my experience at Ben White was a positive one. Pros: customer service, location, more

blinker switch fixed 11/7/2009

These guys fixed my blinker switch. They were fast, reasonably priced and were very friendly. Pros: great service, fast and effiecent, friendly, good location more

Solved the problem 11/6/2009

Invoice 7554 on 9/15/2009. Went in with the mysterious noise from the rear of truck. They researched the issue, and found a GMC technical bulletin. Rather than starting by replacing parts, BWA-North obtained the correct lubricant. While they were working it, I have them replace two universal joints. Customer service was very good, pricing reasonable, and we will be back for other auto work. Pros: Well researched, proper solution more

under-qualified or lie? 10/13/2009

I have to strongly disagree about Ben White Automotive. I have my car towed to the north location because my car had been parked in my garage for a while and recently didn't switch gear. They said my transmission has to be re-built/replace and the battery was dead. Since they can't do re-build, they told me they have to order it from some auto-recycler, and when they receive it, they will install it, which total will be around $2000+ (depending on the used transmission I choose). To persuade me to do so, they said my car was in good condition, and replacing the transmission would give the car another years of driving. They even said going to a transmission shop is not a good idea because they generally only rebuild the transmission which often carry just 12 months warranty. And they said those shops will give me the same conclusion after they diagnosis my car, which they imply there will be fee for diagnosis normally. Basically, the ""impression"" they gave me is, replaced the transmission with us, it will give you peace of mind for another years of driving, and don't even try to go to transmission shop, they are not honest and will charge you more for something you can fix more economically with us. I don't quite believe in what they said. Over the next few weeks, I did my own study on the transmission shops and called several times to many transmission shops. Most of them offer free diagnosis. I decided to toll my car again to Other Transmission shop (not named here), which actually didn't give me quote of transmission rebuild, and insist they have to test the car before giving me quote. (Note: there are many other quote me cheaper for rebuilding transmission) They first fully-charged my battery, and had done several test drives and didn't find a thing (and didn't charge me a penny). They told me that if the battery is dead, the transmission system will enter some kind of auto-safe mode such that it won't switch gear. They recommend me to go to any battery store and have the battery replaced, and it should fix all the problem. I went to some battery shops on South Lamar (which provide free installation), and even the guy in the store know this basic concept. So my conclusion is, either the technicians in Ben White is under-qualified, or they just want to make money out of me. I don't think I will go to this store again, especially the north store. Pros: fast service Cons: not honest, or maybe not qualified to fix my problem more

honest service 10/5/2009

I went in for squeaking brakes and they checked it out and told me I didn't need new brake pads yet, but would credit what I spent to have it checked out when I did need them. Pros: friendly more

Finally - Peace of mind with a mechanic! 10/1/2009

My car failed inspection, something to do with the gas tank or something. Obviously I'm not car-saavy. I was really scared to bring my car to a mechanic because as the stereotype goes, mechanics just want money and are not to be trusted. Well, Ben White Automotive broke that stereotype! Pros: honest, friendly, fast, reliable more

Great Service Experience 9/12/2009

I recently brought my car for some unexpected work. I followed the reviews from CitySearch and they were right on... Diagnosed, communicated and fixed. Back running again! - rtee Pros: Honest, No Hassles, Timely more
