Five Stars. Five Diamonds 11/9/2008

I spend about $10,000 a month on dining and entertaining my very wealthy clients, and guests. Belvedere has by far been the most impressive restaurant I have been to. The food is creative, and good, not over the top. The service is fit for the royalty. If this is the most imprtant night of your life and do not want to take a chance on ANYTHING you can count on this place. This is the only FIVE Diamond, Five restaurant in Los Angeles; a distinction only a handful of restaurants in the entire world can brag about. Pros: Best Food, Cons: decor ineeds updating more

Beautiful and romantic with stunning views and scrumptious food 8/9/2008

A friend and I lunched here for a girls day out and I must say, we had a fabulous time. The service was impeccable and the garden patio is absolutely stunning. I highly recommend reserving a seat on the patio, especially on a beautiful day (which is pretty much every day in Los Angeles). I had the iced watermelon and cucumber soup which was delicious - it's very light and refreshing on a hot day. The wine list is also incredible and though the prices are steep, they are well worth it. I should also note that the concierge were very helpful, even though we were not guests of the hotel they were happy to help us get reservations at a local spa, and even provide directions for our driver. I can't understand the negative review below mine - I too have dined at some of the finest restaurants in the world, and the chef at the Peninsula is as good as he is purported to be, arguable one of the best in the world. I am certain that the location and ambience have also contributed to the success of the restaurant but if the food wasn't exquisite, you can be certain that it's reputation would suffer. Pros: Stunning Ambience, Stellar Service, Scrumptious Menu and excellent wine list Cons: Expensive parking (you have to valet), not a place to bring the kids more

It's a pretty Restaurant..BUT 11/4/2006

That's it. The only reason this place gets any recognition is because of its location, design, and clientle. Other than that....it's not the place that you want to go to impress someone for dinner...plenty of other places that the food surpasses them, in every aspect. I have been to tons of high end hotel restaurants...this is one place that I won't dine again, unless I'm physically forced to do so. But....I have to say the service was impeccable, and that is definitely worth noting..I mean if you have to spend that kind of money, something better be positive....other than that...It's an average place to eat. Pros: Scenery, People Watching Cons: Food more

Exceptional High Tea in swanky surroundings 10/7/2005

Wonderful ambiance nice opportunity to dress sharp good service. Lovely live harp performance throughout the afternoon. Royal Tea ($28 pp) is strawberriesncream accompanied by champagne, then your choice of tea plus sandwiches, pastries and scones - one plain, one currant, served with Devonshire cream and preserves. Sandwiches are charred vegetables on wheat bread with pesto spread; curried chicken on sweet raisin bread; their own exceptional smoked salmon on dark bread with boursin spread; and cucumber, watercress, pimento and dill. Pastries were a tiny profiterole with butterscotch custard, a cube of tiramisu and a little tartlet. The teas they have are excellent. I opted for the Earl Grey and drank three cups, even though I am really a coffee drinker. But some of the exotic ones on offer are Caramel Pear also Tahitian Vanilla, as well as Oolong and top-drawer Green Teas. Delicious, filling and highly recommended. Pros: classy, tasty, relaxing Cons: spendy more

Best Hotel Restaurant around! 11/15/2002

I don't know what planet other reviewers on this page are from, but it must be where inhabitants have no taste buds. I have eaten all over North America, and the Belvedere is by far the best hotel restaurant around (in the best hotel around, to boot). The food is superb and creative, the atmosphere elegant, and the service inpeccable (NOT snooty like stated on this page--apparently, some have trouble distinguishing 'reserved and dignified' with 'snooty'). This restaurant is the ONLY hotel restaurant in North America with a AAA Five Diamond award, and also rated the best hotel restaurant in Southern California by the Zagat survey. That should hold far more weight to readers than amateur ratings posted here. Pros: Great food, Top notch service Cons: Expensive more
