I would give the BH a half star if this site would let me. My family comes here once a year and I still can't believe they do, after the way we were treated and how terrible the food is. It is expensive and the owner is rude. We had a party of about 20 last year and she kept telling me to sit down and I told her that I would like to sit next to my father and his wife. And she said oh just sit here. She was very rude and seemed like all she cared about was getting our $ rather than our business. \r \r Ive had burnt fish here and the cooks do not know how to cook a steak. My husband had burnt tenderloin. The BH used to be good maybe 20 years ago. Not anymore. The waitresses are great and thats about the only nice thing I have to say. more

We live about an hour from the Beef House. Still when we want to treat ourselves, it is one of the two places we go. As a beef specialty restaurant they have many outstanding beef entrees. The ribeye is my favorite. They serve delicious fresh, hot rolls with the smoothest strawberry jam. The salad bar offers great selection and each item is fresh and tasty. Finally, the wait staff are all first class. Special event? Treat the one you adore to a great night out at the Beef House. more

Not Like It Used to Be - Give Customers a Smile 7/23/2010

I have been going to the Beef House since the early 70's.\r My parents even used to go to the original Beef House.\r While I like their steaks and rolls, I have consistently seen a major ATTITUDE PROBLEM with the owner, management and staff. \r I'm sure that these are all fine people, but it's easy to lose touch with the customers and how they're feeling.\r Here are my observations:\r 1. Unlike almost every restaurant on the planet, the Beef House staff does not ask you how you liked your meal when you are paying and leaving the restaurant. Why is that?\r 2. The cashier help is frequently rude and dismissive instead of warm and friendly. How come?\r 3. The owner appears to be out of touch and unapproachable.\r Why not be friendly, smiling, and warm instead? \r 4. There are NEVER tomatoes on the salad bar for the lunch specials. Why not put some out every now and then.\r The rolls are excellent most of the time, many of the waitresses are great, others are quite rude, the building is lovely . more

I grew up in a town near the Beef House, so I have been a regular customer. The salad bar and "Beef House" rolls are the best I've ever had. This place has not changed in years, perhaps because it has always been good. more

When you're willing to drive 1.5 hours to go to the Beef House, you know it has got to be good! The steaks are great, the salad bar has a LOT of variety. I could possibly eat a truck load of the bread! more

Claims to be Indiana's Best Steak House 11/26/2005

To people in Indiana, I am sorry. This is not the best steak house out there. If this is the best your state has to offer than I am sorry! They have an excellent seafood pasta dish that is only a special and not on the menu. The food was good but high priced. The lunch buffet is well worth the money! more

The place to go for a great steak! 11/13/2005

The Beef House is a family owned restaurant offering the best cuts of beef, pork and seafood. Their homemade rolls and strawberry jam are served at every meal and the salad bar is top notch. Prices are reasonable to high, but you will leave stuffed with the best food around. A buffet is offered at lunch which is a bargain. more

Excellent food! 1/5/2005

From a fresh salad bar, to the broccoli soup and hot homemade rolls, you can't go wrong with the Beef House. The filet mignons are excellent and there are many seafood and lighter fare options for the health conscious. Large facilities and banquet rooms provide meeting places for small families and large corporations. I have never had a bad encounter in 15 years of going there.
