Best

It has been our tradition for about 4 years now that on Fridays, we meet at Beale for lunch. This is not a stuffy place. It is a place to go and let your hair down, Drink a beer (...

Worst

This may be the worst burger in town. Do they dry them before cooking, or did I just eat a horse? The folks that work there are great. To a one, all the bar staff are competent...

Where is the best bartender Patty????? 1/28/2009

I use to hang out at this bar on Friday nights. Patty was the bartender and now she is no longer there. She was the best bartender. I will no longer be hanging out at this bar without Patty there. WHAT HAPPENED??????? BRING HER BACK PLEASE. more

Where is Patty Villeggiante? 1/28/2009

We went in to see Patty, our favorite bartender, last Friday night and was told she had been let go. She has coordinated several of our company parties over the years and has always done such a fabulous job. We also got the impression that she was let go under suspicious circumstances, after being a dedicated employee for over 20 years. Why would anyone want to lose a valuable employee like Patty? As a business owner I know how difficult it is to find good employees, but it is even harder to find exceptional ones like Patty. So, if anyone knows where Patty has moved to, please let me know so I can take my business there! more

Great after work 1/8/2007

We have been going to Beale Street for years after work. Sometimes we come early and leave late. In fact, we even make fake Outlook meeting invites and set the location as "Beale Street Boardroom". The staff is fantastic and greets us by name, the beers are cold, and the burgers and veggie nachos are fantastic. Totally relaxed. In fact, it can't be any more casual. Definitely like having a Cheers around the corner. more

Every Friday We are there...! 7/21/2005

It has been our tradition for about 4 years now that on Fridays, we meet at Beale for lunch. This is not a stuffy place. It is a place to go and let your hair down, Drink a beer (coke with cherries for me) and have a nice lunch. The staff is very courteous and remember you when you come back. When we have visitors come to our office, we bring them to Beale. We are proud to be patrons and recommend Beale Street Bare & Grill to all that like a down to Earth atmosphere.. Pros: The People, OPen Bar, Mario is cool Cons: Limited Seating, Sumer Heat, can get crowded more

As out-of towners, we came here for the Trivia (NTN),met some GREAT people (Trivia players are the best), the hamburgers were greasy and GOOD! This is a standard stop whenever we make it to S.F. from Long Beach. Pros: Friendly people, good service, Trivia (NTN) more

Beale Street Bar & Grill overall has a great vibe, but is dirty. more

GREAT burgers! 2/16/2005

I just tried out this place a couple of weeks ago, now that I work in the area, and I am addicted to their burgers already! The bacon-cheddar is my favorite. They are SO delicious, and the staff is really friendly. I like the atmosphere, too. I definitely recommend checking this place out. =) more

Great Local Hang 1/10/2005

Where else can you find located in the heart of downtown with PLENTY of parking! It's attached to a daytime parking lot that is accessible at night. Combine this with the fact that the people that work there are great and the drinks are cheap, it is a great place to start an evening. Pros: parking, local, cheap drinks more

Very Cool and Relaxing 6/1/2004

If you just want a glass of wine and chill with friends, or sit around with your brew and watch a game, watch out because the brains come in also with the trivia nights and hold up what a minute Friday night it's the BOMB. i trully love the staff and patron, Come on by and say HI. more

Horrid food, great staff 6/1/2003

This may be the worst burger in town. Do they dry them before cooking, or did I just eat a horse? The folks that work there are great. To a one, all the bar staff are competent and friendly. The staff at this place consistently makes you feel like you belong. The crowd is mostly blue collar regulars, which is refreshing in the financial district. Nothing like being surrounded by folks who are just interested in having a beer with their friends instead of preening and/or attempting to talk louder than everyone else. more

  • In Short
Buzzing with patrons at lunch time and bubbling over with a mix of suits and bike messengers after work, Beale Street is one of those secret hangouts most citydwellers would love to know about. Daily happy hour features great discounts on Budweisers and well drinks. The food menu will make many folks think about heading to the gym the next day--fried chicken, cheese steaks, Mexican specialties and french fries.
