Favorite Bar EVER! (Nearly 30 beers on tap too!) 11/23/2005

With regards to the other reviews posted, I primarily want to mention that as of now (November 2005) the Tap Room has 27 beers on tap. (There's also a great liquor selection, in case you're not in a beer drinking mood.) There's definitely something for everyone here. The bartenders there are the absolute best in town - which is probably why there so many regulars, myself included. There are some bands that occasionally come in and play, primarily on the weekends. The jukebox is of the ""download and play"" variety, though the bartenders tend to play a nice, eclectic mix of pretty rockin' stuff when the jukebox is not in use too. In short, it's cool, quaint, the people are friendly and it's a great alternative to all the touristy bars on Beale. (The wall displays are pretty neat too, especially if you're a beer aficionado!) Pros: awesome bartenders, huge selection, quaint atmosphere more

Best bar on Beale 11/22/2005

The Tap Room is far and away my favorite bar on Beale Street. I'm a local, just a couple of blocks away, and nothing beats The Tap Room's selection of beers, service, and atmosphere. Not a tourist trap, very comfortable. With almost 30 beers on tap it has something for everyone. The food (actually from King's Palace next door), is great, and the prices are reasonable. Stop by on a Tuesday for $2.50 pints of everything on draft. Say hello to Maurice and Niles, two of the best bartenders in Memphis. Pros: Reasonably Priced, Great Beer Selection, Excellent Atmosphere more

Nice Stop 10/2/2002

It was nice on Beale Street to be able to bop into a bar that didn't have a band - just a jukebox. The bartender was a man named Chuck who we had met the previous night at King's Palace. You could play pool and just hang out in relative quiet which was pleasant on our last night in town. The name ""Tap Room"" is a little misleading though - there were only 4 beers on tap and they were pretty standard. If you're a beer buff check out the walls - the cans and bottles on display are a blast! more

Best Bar on Beale 5/15/2002

Probably the only bar on Beale where you don't pay cover. Small, intimate, and not touristy at all. Shoot pool, put some quarters in the jukebox and just enjoy being in Memphis. A great place to start out--or end up on Beale. Whether you're pre-partying or winding down, its the perfect spot to kick back with a cocktail. Pros: no cover Cons: not a lot of seats more
