I accompanied my parents to Basque in October on a visit from where I live. The staff could not have been nicer. They gave honest recommendations from the menu and helped us choose drinks to accompany the food. The food is absolutely perfect, the familiar flavors arranged in surprising combinations. We had, hands down, the best dessert I've ever tasted. Even after living close by for 6 years, The Basque stacks up against the best I have had here. I can't wait to go back! more

Basque offer a selection of pintxos (small refined tapas that are ubiquitous with Basque region), appetizers, signature entrees and a variety of grilled dishes including shellfish, fresh fay boat catches, prime dry aged meat and vegetables. All are complemented by an extensive and exciting wines. more

The Place To Go 9/9/2011

Of the different restaurants is Old Town this is definitely my favorite because it's the most authentic. Don't get me wrong some of the others are a lot of fun to go to but when it comes to food this is the place to go. more

Great Choice 9/8/2011

We came to the Basque by accident and my girlfriend was way more exited then me to try. We ordered shepherd pie and a chicken dish and I was impressed. The food was not fru-fru. It was family style and family run. The people were friendly and we enjoyed our evening. Great by accident choice. We want to invite friends next time. more

If you are like me and you were not sure what Basque food is but curious enough to try, you will be impressed. This place serves home cooking from the Basque region of Spain and it is very good. The flavors and method of cooking makes e dream about eating the stews or my fiances order of a perfect steak dish with wine. I will be back! more

The Basque Restaurant was a delicious way to celebrate my mothers birthday. The service was very friendly and the food we all thought was great. The owner even came up to our table and gave us a very friendly and personal greeting, which we all very much appreciated. more

Love the calamari 8/12/2011

I love the menu that offers a wild variety of choices for dinner, from Basque to pasta. I love the veggie dishes I love the garlic bread. . I love the calamari too. The entrees let me indulge my closet desire for good food. I came back after a break and I'm glad it did. Basque Restaurant gives a nod to times gone by but makes it good for today. more

I love the customer service. They are amazingly nice. They have the best food in there. The room service is to die for. If I could I would stay there forever. A friend of mine would just go in there for the food. But the room service is excellent. more

A friend from college referred me to this place since she grew up eating here and I just loved it. I love the soup. It's delicious. Large portions 8/9/2011

I grew up going to this place with my family. Good Basque food, 7 course meal at fair prices. They have great soup and chops, the same thing my grandmother made me growing up. We still make it down there once in a while with my grandparents. It's an ideal place to take a large group of people since they have family style seating. These days you don't see many of the old Basque men in cowboy hats hanging out there anymore as I did when I was younger, but if you're looking for good Basque food, check it out... more

Really enjoyed my dinner 8/8/2011

Just tried this restaurant and it was really good. If I'm in the Fresno area again I would definitely go again. Portions were really nice sized, not to much, not to little. Decor is a bit dated but it doesn't take away from the great service, friendly people and overall atmosphere. The bar seemed like a nice neighborhood bar where everyone seemed to know each other and were really friendly. more

The Basque Hotel knows exactly what it means to offer 5 star service. Once you step foot in this restaurant you get this comfortable/relaxed feeling from the atmosphere. Don't get me wrong the food is ""hands down"" delicious, but now in days you always want to find that one restaurant you can invite your closest friends and family to and be proud of. If service always is this great the Basque has just gained a lifelong guest. Thanks staff! more

Am I in Fresno or in the Pyrenees? You have to go back outside and look up and down the street to confirm you are indeed in beautiful Fresno and not deep in Basque Country of Spain. Few Basque restaurants are as good as this. I've been to 3 and they are each unique and delicious. The staff makes you feel at home. Very relaxed atmosphere and typical of Basque places that have been around since they invented sheep. Don't come here if you are only slightly hungry. Keep your visit here for the times you really want to fill up on great Basque fare. Not for the timid Yuppie types who would do better on some Sushi Joint. Just good honest, filling, expertly prepared Basque. more

Food is great here. Great menu, great people and a great price. Servers were really kind, attentive and they knew everything on the menu. Which is great because I tend to ask questions before I order. more

Tradition 7/29/2011

Looking forward to another dinner at the Basque Hotel. There is something very comforting about coming back each year for our annual family reunion in Fresno and part of the experience is having dinner at the Basque Hotel. Part of our tradition is to come to the Basque Hotel to break bread and eat a good family style dinner in a family style environment. It's a great place to get together with about 70 family members and eat a good meal at great prices. more
