Kim Kardashian at Bashar 4/18/2010

You're so right about the Kim Kardashian wannabe! But I think the real Kim Kardashian has a sweeter personality. She acts like she's some Queen above you. This girl is so annoying- she reminds me of someone from LA. She should move there to do us all a favor. Pros: ? Cons: Kim Kardashian, Long wait time, Overpriced haircuts more

Amazing Hairdresser!!! 5/6/2009

I have been flying to New York to Frederic Fekkai Salon to get my hair done because no one in Michigan has been able to do my hair well in Michigan until I found Bashar. I was recommended to him by a friend of mine that works for W Magazine that had him do her hair. She said he is amazing and I could save time and money by giving him a try. He is so charming, handsome, and very easy to talk to. He understood exactly what I needed and made suggestions to improve my haircut and color. I felt instantly comfortable and trusted him after he consulted me. He knew exactly what he was talking about. His assistants were equally as beautiful and humble. My hair has never been as healthy, shiny, and easy for me to duplicate as with his haircut. I actually get more compliments now than I ever have!!! Im so happy that I have found him in my own hometown. I found out on my second appointment that he has worked in New York for Fashion Week and has been Detroit's Elite Hairstylist for years. How did I not know about him until now?? Im glad I found him and look forward to my next appointment so much excitement. Bashar...You ROCK!!! Pros: He is like a New York Hairdresser Cons: none. All worth it more

Horrible service 4/10/2009

I have gone to that salon on three occasions. When I received a horrible haircut from Kori on the third time, I thought that because I was a returning customer, it would be easy to get a refund and my hair fixed. I got the run around for a week from the salon. When I finally talked to Kris, the manager, we agreed to meet at 6 and discuss my options and possibly have Tracy, the lead stylist, fix my hair. At 6:30 Jason, Tracys assistant came to talk to me about my options. Unfortunately, because my haircut is already pretty short, there's really nothing that can be done to fix it. It wasn't until 6:45 that I got to actually talk to Tracy at all. I was pretty upset by then and demanded to speak to the manager. Tracy, who is an overweight older gentleman who hasn't had a haircut in probably 10 years, tried to convince me that my haircut was cool.... That got me even more angry. By the time I got to talk to the manager I had been waiting almost and hour and she still gave me the run around saying that she never said we'd talk and I needed to calm down and my haircut was fine and then she smiled and said ""what would you say if I said we didn't offer returns or refunds?"".... Wow, I can't believe how bad I was treated. I have never had such bad service from any where. I've never had such a bad haircut either. Needless to say, this salon doesn't get the best reviews for customer service and I don't recommend going there unless you already know and trust one of the stylist. more

A Great Salon 4/10/2008

I have been going to Bashar Salon in Birmingham for years and the staff has always been the friendliest, warmest people I have found anywhere. All of them, from the front desk to the last stylist in back, I am always greeted with smiles and hellos. Stepping in that salon you'd get a feeling that the Bashar team was like family and respected their salon and each other, a place of sheer positive energy. I have followed their move to HB at Somerset and received equally as pleasing service in a more high-energy atmosphere. Parking is very easy on the third floor, 30 steps and you're in the salon, free covered parking in close proximity - what more can you ask for in convenience? Beyond all that, they do amazing work. There is real talent at that salon. My color is AMAZING. Truly, amazing. I get so many compliments and am often asked who does my hair - many times by other stylists. I am very surprised to read these negative comments by others, some sound a little personal to me. How my experience could be so dramatically different from the negative posters on here doesn't make any sense. I find this salon exceptional. Pros: I admit Bashar Salon Birmingham had bad lighting. But HB has awesome lighting! Cons: Al the cute stylists? kidding. their are none. more

Jennifer Hanna has left Bashar and moved to 221 Eton Street! 3/30/2008

Just wanted to let everyone know that Jennifer formerly of Bashar has moved to 221 Eton Street in Birmingham. It's a great spot with it's own parking lot. Low key and no Kim Kardashian wannabe's running the front desk! She can't get her client contact list since Bashar moved to Somerset so if you want to book an appointment with her you can call her at 248.470.5674. She is the best! For the first three months I went to Bashar, the front desk had my first and last name completely wrong. I never felt 'welcome' and for the money I was spending thought it was insane. I'm so happy Jen didn't move with them to Somerset. The new salon is only a couple of blocks away and it is so much easier to get to, no parking garage or meters! Woohoo! Pros: Jennifer was always great Cons: Front desk staff, horrible lighting, bad location more

Bad Service 2/14/2008

Great Salon until they decide to move and not tell their bride that has 11 appointments for her wedding day that they are moving across town to Somerset Mall screwing up the entire hair/make-up morning. Needless to say outrageously disappointed in their service!!! more

Bad Experience 2/2/2008

I went to Bashar Salon a few time and i was never treated well. First off I paid a good money for costly extensions, The stylists that talked me into getting them told me they WOULD NOT DAMAGE my hair AT ALL!!!! Ha that was a LIE i got them out one month after having them in and i lost so much hair becuase of it. It's a good thing that BASHAR IS CLOSING DOWN in MARCH Cons: all around bad experience more

Awesome cut and color. 8/2/2007

I've been going to Jennifer for several years, now. I even came home to have her cut an color my hair when I was living away as I couldn't find anyone in the Raleigh area to compare. I'm not sure if she's taking new clients, but if she's not, her assistant Kristen has been trained by the best, Jennifer! Strangers complement me on the street; loving my color (she does highlights and lowlights along with the color on me), my cut or both. I usually am not a big spender on myself, but every time someone says something nice, I know I've spent well. :-) Pros: Jennifer, Kristen more

Awful Service 7/16/2006

I called a week ago to inquire about someone from the salon doing my hair for my wedding as well as my wedding parties hair. I was told someone would call me back. I'm still waiting. Needless to say, I'm not holding my breath. Pros: I wouldn't know since no one ever called me back. Cons: Customer service more

HORRIBLE customer service 6/13/2006

I heard about the salon and decided to try it out. I called to ask about the price of a relaxer and I had to go through a recording to finally get to a receptionist. Once I asked the receptionist (who was very unprofessional - giggling, as though she were in the middle of a personal conversation with someone else while talking to me on the phone) for the price she put me on hold for about 5-10 minutes. When the receptionist came back she told me to hold on AGAIN and then finally told me she couldn't tell me the price becuase she couldn't find the price list!! Needless to say, I was in shock. How can a salon not know their own prices! Anyway, I called back the day after and then again the day after that and both times they were closed. I called again today and the phone just rang for 10 minutes and then hung up. I called twice more today and the same thing happened! While I obviously can't actually comment on their stylists, I figure that if they can't even manage to answer their phonecalls properly, then I don't think I should chance having that kind of second-rate service with my hair! more
