For My Spouse it was a Must See! 5/21/2006

My sister-in-law was living in Poughkeepsie, New York at the time so while we were visiting her, my spouse wanted to make a day to see Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame. I do like baseball and will watch the games but the Museum, itself, to me was very very boring. Now my spouse loved it! There is a lot of reading to do where they have giant displays of newspaper articles and magazine articles. Just wasn't my bag. more

You've got to go if you call yourself a baseball fan 4/8/2006

You hear about the National Baseball Hall of Fame at least once a year, when Hall of Fame balloting comes out and then usually on the sports cast on the nightly news after the induction ceremony. When my wife and I were moving across the country, we decided to drive and see all the touristy things we probably woudn't have a chance to see at least for a while, if not ever. One of my friends was at grad school at Columbia in Ithaca, so we decided to make a pit stop here. We didn't plan enough time, there is a lot to see. When we were there (8 years ago), they had a great exhibit on the Women's League during the war - dramatized in League of their Own. more

The mother of all halls of fame 8/19/2005

The newly rededicated Baseball Hall of Fame has managed the unthinkable: it has brought improvement to an American tradition so deeply ingrained in the public consciousness that change is next to unthinkable. While the Hall of Fame part itself has seen little, change, the Museum has undergone a significant rejuvenation. The exhibits are now very contemporary, seeking to bring the visitor as much into the experience of the game as possible, without actually attending the games themselves. Of the exhibits, the best one was for me the exhibit on the legendary stadia, including several that have long since been razed, like Ebbets Field or the Polo Grounds. The daily schedule is peppered with special presentations and events that try to evoke the mystery and magic of baseball. The only issue I had with the Fields of Dreams exhibit was that the stadia were exhibited somewhat haphazardly. more

Looking to see some baseball 8/6/2005

Well look no further! Right here in cooperstown ny, just 20 miles north of oneonta is the well known baseball hall of fame! See the baseball allstars that have been put on the walls and take home some nice baseball keepsakes for the rest of the family (or even keep them for yourself!) This building is also very beautiful, they just renovated it, and it's almost done! more
