Editorial review from Citysearch 2/4/2017

I love the bison blue cheese burger at Barley Pop, that's why we go there. Looked at the menu online yesterday to check on fish fry. Yes, all you can eat, yes bison burger still there. We went & guess what? No bison burger & fish fry is not all you can eat. Online info is outdated we were told. Why? no one knows. My husband had the fish fry, I had blue cheese burger with onions. No longer could I get soup as my side, another disappointment. We got our bill & were charged $1 extra for potato pancakes & 75cents for my friggin onions!! Are you kidding me? Twelve bucks for a burger & you're going to charge extra for onions? Who charges extra for potato pancakes? Waitress never mentioned either, wonder why, I'm sure she was embarrassed. Well, we won't be back. more

New Again! Great Food! Relaxed 9/8/2011

The new owner's - I think 2 years now - have turned out yet another menu. It started this last Sunday and we thoroughly enjoyed some of the new choices and were comforted to see some of the old. The atmosphere is always inviting and relaxed. We enjoyed the BPP Redeye - a burger with ham, cheese, bacon, a fried egg and even buffalo sauce - absolutely delicious. My daughter ordered a salad only to find out it could also be served as a wrap. Well anyways - its was good local food and we have been back for the $5.99 express lunch. more

The new Barley Pop rocks! 11/27/2010

Its obvious that the new owners are making great changes! From the new windows and siding to the new menu and awesome staff, the revived Barley Pop is full of refreshing energy! I stop in for lunch often and enjoy their daily lunch specials, and sometimes stay through happy hour, which is an incredible deal! Barley Pop supports our comuntiy, we should support our local bussiness! more

Excellent food/experience 10/14/2010

Went to the Barley Pop after a long time away and was so very pleased with the experience. The environment is cleaner, brighter (more windows), new TVs, and better food. I took my daughter in for lunch after shopping, and we enjoyed the home made Bruschetta and then a Jack Daniels Steak sandwhich - YUM, and a Tijuana Cheese steak sandwhich. The food came reasonably quick, was hot and delicious. I also noticed they are now doing small venues of live music - we'll be back for sure and might even bring my husband. Thanks for returning it to what I remember - but better more

What Happened to the Barley Pop 2/19/2010

My friends and I use to love the "POP" but the new manager/owner is just not friendly and she is starting to rub off on the rest of the staff, if you want to feel invisible this is the place, you will be ignored until you get up and go to them. They took some of our favorite items off of the menu, blackened prime rib, Barley Pop Burger and Barley Pop Chicken. The service and the food are just alright really no reason to every go back, much like most of the regulars we are moving on.Germantown has lots of other choices so if I was you I would choice somewhere elese. It's also a shame that the only good reviews on this site are from their employee's. Pros: Still a few good employee's Cons: The new manager/owner is arrogant more

Not Worth The Long Wait 1/19/2010

I do not recommend this restaurant due to the poor quality of the food and service. Cons: Over priced for the quality more

WOW what a turn around 12/20/2009

A great place for family and friends. Full restaurant, smoking or non. Huge bar and alot to offer. Wide range of spirits and beer. Menu has a wide varity of unique items with very reasonable prices and specials everyday. Great packer game specials and monday night football specials. Its just a great place to come and hang out. Pros: Service, food quality, and staff Cons: NONE!!!! more

More fun than chain restaurants 12/14/2009

I love The Barley Pop! The new owners have made some wonderful changes without losing the feel of the restaurant that has been there for years. The new menu gives you a ton of choices and the quality of the food has gone up as well. I recomend trying the Barley Pop again if you haven't been there for a while. I think they've made leaps and bounds in the right direction! Pros: Great food and friendly faces! more

Best Place EVER! 12/14/2009

I don't know what this guy is talking about! My experience has always been GREAT! The new owner takes the time to get to know us customers, and is very friendly and kind. The managers are wonderful and efficient. This is the best place I've been. Their new menu and customer service is considerably better than the past. I can't say enough good things about this place. It's my favorite! I think you should go on the weekends and check it out!!! I'll be there! So will the HOT bartenders! ( which is half the reason I frequent the place). more

Excellent - Excellent - Excellent............... 8/24/2009

Excellent Excellent Excellent...........................\r I am not sure about the other review below me but I have had several wonderful experiences at the "under new ownership" Barley Pop. I used to go to the establishmnet often a little over 5-6-7 years ago - but then it began to go seriously downhill - we hadn't been there again until recently.\r \r 1) We have purchased the "Sirloin Special" on Thursday night - and it was nice to see that although it had increased in price from the old 4.95 of 6-7 years ago to $6.95 - I think the cut was nicer and it was prepared very well. The "Friday Fish-Fry" (all you can eat) was superb. $8.95 was all it cost for Two large pieces of fish - lightly breaded and the oil they used kept it light and crispy. Not to mention the great potato pancakes you can add (x2) for just 50 cents.\r \r 2) The new young woman in charge that greeted us as well as everyone else at their table those nights was a refreshing change for the pub. The tables were packed an more

Worst Customer Service Ever 8/14/2009

READ>>>>>>>>>>>>>\r My wife and I plus many friends use to come to the Barley Pop every Thursday night for the past 6 years until some of us moved away. Well everyone is now back in town and we decided to return to old habits. \r \r 1) Cheap steak night ($4.95 Thursday) is not so cheap anymore. ($6.95) for a ground sirloin instead of the real sirloin like before. But on the menu it still says sirloin.\r 2) We had a gift certificate that we received from a poker tournament in January for $10 off that the new owner (in a red sox shirt) would not accept. She said and I quote ?the previous owner already made money off of this so I can?t accept it, but I will meet you half way and give you $5 off.? ??Not our problem that?s the cost of business and when you purchase a business and the name you must honor all pre-engagements per LAW. \r 3) I always get a double Crown Royal on the rock and at dinner I was clearly charged on my receipt $6.25. After dinner I went to the bar for another an more

This is my "Cheers" 9/12/2008

I love this place! My wife and I go there all the time (in fact, we met there several years ago, and have been going religiously ever since). We enjoy walking into a place with a casual atmosphere, and ordering great food and drinks. Occasionally something will go wrong, but the staff is always anxious to correct the problem and make our visit enjoyable. Out of all of the local restaurants in the area, this is by far our most favorite choice. more

Bars 7/19/2008

Barley Pop is a fun bar with lively music, good drink special loads of parking and easy to get to walking. They have good food also.Very young crowd but very fun. more

Strange Bartender 5/10/2008

There is a bartender there who always is hanging on people. She Is more worried about her friends then other customers. She wears sparkly makeup that looks horrendus. The food is good though. Mexican salad was tasty. They have a pool table, darts, and good music. Temperature was hot then cold. Never a good inbetween. Overall I would go back. Pros: Good parking Cons: Temperature more

Declining Service 3/29/2008

WOW! We have been coming regularly to the Barley Pop for 15 YEARS (since the $3.99 Friday night fish fries). We take our family, friends, and all the foreign exchange students that we have hosted thru the years there to show them what a good fish fry used to be. The fish changed about 5 years ago (not near as good) but we still came. Pros: Long PAST history of good food and service Cons: Service no longer tolerable: Fish now only So-So more

Great Burgers! 12/17/2007

Great Burger! I love pub burgers and this place has the best around. I found the Barley pop to be a very welcoming and friendly place. This is my first time doing a message. I was looking up the phone # so I could get there hours and saw the bad review before mine and was sad they had such a bad experience but I did not have there pizza. I will go back again and again. I loved it! more

The worst service and pizza 5/8/2007

We went to Barley Pop recently and I would not recommend their food or service based on the fact that the restaurant was not busy - there was only one waitress - and she could not handle the responsibilities of her job. When asked if we could have a separate check - we were told it was easier for her to just do one check. Then we showed her an Entertainment book coupon - and she told us she could honor it. We ordered a pizza and a pitcher of soda. The pizza was horrible. We had sausage, pepperoni, and 1/2 black olives. The sausage was scattered little bits of meat, the black olives were cut very thin and I would guess there was less than 1/16 cup on a large pizza. When our bill came - the waitress told she could not honor our coupon - then proceeded to show us a menu where this was stated (now mind you this was after we had eaten so we had no choice to cancel our food order) Now to add even more misery - the bill was completed with an 18% tip included. I would have asked to speak to management but there was only a young bartender besides this waitress. I left my Entertainment book coupon on the table - knowing I would never return to this place again. I would consider this one of my worst restaurant experiences. The waitress was a young know it all girl who whined to us that this was just her third day of working. I believe she has chosen the wrong career for herself. She needs to learn that the customer is the important factor and not what is easiest for her - and she needs to understand how to honor a coupon. Don't waste your time going to place! Pros: Plenty of parking Cons: Horrible service and food more
