Staff unresponsive 8/17/2009

Our experience at the restaurant and inn were mediocre, but being ignored by the staff regarding a followup quality/billing complaint is inexcusable. They did not return phone calls, and when I did catch them in they did not follow through as they said they would. A big disappointment. more

Very Happy With Baracelli Inn 8/17/2009

This past July I had a gathering for about 20-25 people. I was a little nevous after reading some of the reviews below. Our gathering did not include dinner. just hors d'oeuvres and drinks. The food was excellent- we had compliments from all our guests on how fabulous the food was. We especially liked the duck wontons and the sausage puff pastries. The waiters and waitresses were fantastic; friendly and efficient. Our guests drinks were constantly being replenished. The atmosphere was wonderful. As a matter of fact, the reason I am writing this in mid August is because yesterday we met up with some of the guests and they were still raving about Baracelli Inn! Pros: Food and Service Cons: pricy, but very good more

Disappoined 5/3/2009

Baricelli's has always been my favorite special occasion restaurant. Unfortunately on Friday, May 1st, our anniversary ,it changed my mind. The Piggy in a blanket was so spicy that I gave it to my husband to eat, which was not explained on the menu or by the server. When we went to order our dessert, we were told that half of the items weren't available. The bread was tough and chewy and the drinks cost as much as a dinner. I realize that things are tough and Mr. Minillo has adjusted his menu, but we may have to rethink where we have our special occasion dinners. Pros: Beautiful atmosphere - grew up there in childhood Cons: Very price drinks - food spicy more

Not worth the time and money 1/14/2008

Other than its fancy exterior, not much else was worth raving about this restaurant. The staff treats you with an attitude and create interesting terms such as ""Cleveland water"" to make fun of people who don't order bottled water. They jam and cram you into a small corner, where you can feel the breath of the person next table, or literally have your chair in the hallway... but you are expected to pretend that this is supposed to be an upscale romantic place. The prices however, do resemble that of an upscale place. The wait however, it what really gets me. After all that anticipation, the food is either unimpressive, don't come out well or too small in portion to call a dish. I thought they made a mistake and gave me Tapas and charged me for a Main Entree. Yes, I was pretty fed up, but you have to wait as long as the food to pay your bills and get out of there. For a hundred a pop, I went home hungry. Pros: Fancy building, you might enjoy it more from outside Cons: Service with an attitude, tight quarters, long waits, poor food, high prices more

great food, good atmosphere 3/10/2007

We went there for a belated Valentine Day celebration ( two weeks after, because of the snow). Food was great . My wife had surf & turf. I had the Scallops. Desert was good too . Pros: Grat location, nice view, good food more

Awesome view, great Food!! 8/27/2006

The Baracelli expierence was was absolutely fabulous, Chef Minillo and his staff never dissapoint. This is Cleveland's best resturant- HANDS DOWN. Pros: Everything Cons: nothing more

Don't waste your money 1/5/2006

Myself and 5 others spent New Years Eve there, and we all regretted it. As a life-long Clevelander, I've always believed the Baricelli Inn to be one of the nicest restaurants in town. So as you can imagine going there for the first time was to be a special event. The food was completely over priced. Had any of our 6 meals been delicious, the price would not have mattered. The problem was not one of us enjoyed our meal. Beware of the specials!! They're 3 times the amount of the menu items and twice as small! $600 later, we had nothing to show for our meal except major disappointment. more

Over-everything! 11/15/2005

Over-priced, over-hyped! First impression: our table for 6 was wedged so far into a corner that 1/2 of the party couldn't have gotten out, if they wanted to. Second impression: waitress wearing a white oxford cloth shirt - that was totally wrinkled! Looked like she grabbed it from the bottom of the laundry basket! Most of us ordered from the menu, but one of our party chose one of the ""specials"" that the waitress mentioned, a sampler platter with 6 small servings - waitress conveniently forgot to mention that the price for that ""special"" was $80.00! Food was fine, but be prepared to just hand over the credit card and not complain - maybe they can use the extra profits to buy an iron so their employees at least look the part of a pretentious restaurant. more

Memorable dining 11/14/2005

What a wonderful evening! My spouse and I went there last year (2004) for an anniversary celebration, and were so impressed with the food, wine and service, that we went back again this year. We've rarely been so pleased with a restaurant. The Inn is in a lovely old stone house, and dining on the glassed porch was very romantic as the sun was setting. The cheese served there is also made there, and I highly recommend the platter on which they offer five or seven different types, with a variety of crackers, nuts and fruit. Very enjoyable. The seafood (with a delicious risotto) and pork with apples were perfectly prepared and excellent. It's very expensive, but you will have a very special evening. Pros: Delicious food, Lovely setting, Attentive service Cons: Pricey, AC turned up too high more

Dr. 2/1/2004

Completely unacceptable service for the price point. Owner has contempt for the public who stays at his inn or would clearly superivse personnel who have little if any experience in the hospitality industry. Special occasion doused by indifferent unprofessional staff. The place is on the downturn. The owner should take note Pros: parking, cheese, location Cons: , management, pricing more

Poor showing 2/25/2003

Despite the accolades that Baricelli Inn has garnished, I have to say I was disappointed with my Valentines Day experience. Our reservation was at 9:00 p.m. and while we were seated rather promptly, it took us, a party of two, 2 hours and 45 minutes to complete dinner--outrageous! We sometimes waited 30-40 minutes between courses. While my date's quail was delicious, my special fish dish was bland, especially since they had to make an ""ingredient change"" of which I was not informed until my meal was served. I may try the Inn again on a non-holiday, but not soon. Pros: romantic, cheese Cons: excruciatingly slow, ingredient change?, bad value more

Great staff, great food. 11/27/2002

The meal was expensive, but it was worth it. The serving staff pamper you. We sat on the enclosed porch in the winter - I expected a draft but it was nice and cozy. Very romantic - great for a special occasion. more

Spendy, but nice 11/22/2002

The food here is probably some of the most expensive in Cleveland, but nothing disappointed. Especially luxurious was the steak and lobster appetizer. It was fine dining indeed. more

Small and Sexy 9/25/2002

romatic with great food and a wine list to die for....get a bottle of fine bubbly or your favorite red ...visit the cheese aging cooler... and take all of that up to your guest room.... You feel like you are on vacation when you romance at the Baracelli Pros: food/ wine list, rooms/, everything more
