BAD Brunch 11/11/2007

Nearly empty for brunch on Saturday. Downside is that clealry people must know something that I don't. Upside is that we would get personal service and attention. Unfortunately, the former is true and the latter was not. Went on a recommendation from a friend. Flies all over the place, hair on my pasta plate- Can't be mine as I am bald, HOT pasta/COLD meat, WAY too much cheese (and I LIKE cheese), and very dis-interested service. Considering the size of the place, they need to eliminate 6 or so tables. Nice staff, just not real good at what they do. Kitchen was SLOW considering there were only three tables (albeit two were 6 tops). Drinks were blah, dessert was blah and it just wasn't a pleasant experience. To be fair, the bruschetta was VERY good. Pros: Location Cons: read the review. more

Best and the most delicious place on the Upper East side that you can dine out at every day!! 6/22/2006

I just got back from dinner from this UES hotspot - it is like a home away from home - delicious meals and a salad dressing that sometimes they let me have a tiny container of for my lunch at work salads - the price/ atmosphere/ cocktails (FULL BAR!!! Including ABSOLUT PEACH@@@) was beyond unbeatable and they have Brazilian dishes too - my friend loved it - Enjoy!!! Pros: thumbs up entirely - ;-) Cons: too packed on mild nights - last year it was always a wait - this year a bit better more

Thoroughly average 3/15/2006

Nothing special about this place. Basic pastas, average prices. If that's what you want, Bardolino is as good as anywhere else. There's nothing special about it though. more

Great Food , So So Service 12/18/2005

The food is GREAT and they have a wide variety of pasta and meat dishes. Eveything I have tried here has been fabulous. This restaurant is only a few blocks away from me but I keep coming back becasue I am never disappointed with their food. The salads and vegtables are fresh and yummy. The price is also very reasonable. I have to agree with the service comment before though--it can be great or so-so. Th restaurant had a major makeover in 2004 and now is much bigger. JUST A NOTE--they have a full bar and wine service now. If you are looking for a romatic getaway--well this might not be the first place to stop by. But if you are hanging out with friends, family or collegues--it has great food and reasonably priced. more

Dependable Italian 11/7/2005

Bardolino is half a block from my boyfriend's apt which is probably the only reason we even went in the first place...but I'm glad we did! We've only eaten at the restaurant once but have ordered take-out at least once every two weeks. I find the food to be very dependable...classic pasta bolognese is very hearty, the chicken parm is HUGE and tender, the linguine carbonara may be one of the best I've had, and their appetizers are good as well. Bardolino is a good, reliable spot for comfort food. If you're looking for something more spectacular...go elsewhere! more

What's going on ???????? 4/21/2005

I'm pretty much ok with all 3 reviews I read about this place, the food is top of the line, no question, the service is a ""hit or miss"", meaning they have excellent waiters and horrible ones too, it is ""luck of the draw"" literally. If you had good service there, try to get your waiter's name and request him/her by name the next time.I don't know what's going on there, but lately they STOPED serving wine and won't let you bring your own.A tip: DON'T ask the front person for a reason, you'll probably get agraveted by the atitude... Pros: food, music Cons: service, host personnel, NO MORE WINE !! more

Good if you're close... 2/28/2005

Even after a few bad evenings at Bardolino, I keep coming back.It sits a few blocks from where I live, and I'm lazy, a perfect combiation! The ""new"" menu has a few creative items, they were smart enough to keep some of the old favorites (but they raised the prices), the staff is friendly most of the time, but I must agree with the person that wrote about their favorite words: ""No, can't, sorry..."", boy, they won't bend the ""rules"" for anyone.Still, I must recommend Bardolino, but go there , because the take out service is slow and you always end up getting something you didn't want. Pros: Food, wine bar, TV !! Cons: service, DELIVERY, new prices more

New Place,old problems... 2/24/2005

Loved what they did with Bardolino. The place now sits on the corner of 78th & 2nd, it is bigger and ""warmer"" than the old one next door.We were on a table of 6, and loved the food, the Portugues salmon and the sirloin steak with cream sauce were loved by everyone, the apetizers were a bit too small for he price they charge.Too bad the only thing they moved from the old place was the ""less then cordial service"".Their favorite words: ""no, can't, won't, sorry""... Pros: decor, fish, wine list Cons: service more

So good! 12/12/2004

We just went here for our anniversary and were very pleased with everything. The place is small but romatic--the tables are close together, but we never felt cramped. The food and drinks were excellent and a very good deal, esp. for NYC. Our waiter was awesome and the ambience is very nice. I highly recommend! Pros: service, setting, good value, food more
