Took my father in-law here for dinner and had a great experience. Appetizers were perfect accompanied by a delicious wine and complemented with a great steak. Ambience is loud and boisterous in a positive way and the building itself is beautiful.. It is an old beer hall with the original tin ceiling, lovely wood bar up front. New managment has fixed problems! 8/12/2002

I'd been to Barcelona several times under the old management and saw a great decline in the level of service (on one visit for a friend's birthday, we were ignored so badly that we actually counted 37 empty glasses on our table for a party of 8!) Last Saturday I returned though and Barcelona has made a great turnaround. The wine list has improved, the food is still great and the service was far far better than my past few visits. I originally decided to go there by default (I was going with some people who won't eat ""ethnic"" food) but will now gladly re-add Barcelona to my list of places to eat in Columbus. Plus, it was great to see that my favorite server from Sulan is now there, as well as many people from a former employer of my own. Pros: Service, Food, Ambience Cons: Parking more

Pleasing Patio! 8/7/2002

Never experienced it under old management, so I can't compare. However, based on my one experience, the patio was delightful and the staff relatively attentive (we did have to ask for refills and more olive oil on separate occasions). They did well in wine advice. Food was good--my group enjoyed every entree, appetizer, and desert. Still strikes me as the place to take a special date or loved one. more

Great atmosphere, mediocre food 5/25/2002

I think Barcelona has great atmosphere, and quite romantic, too. BUT, I agree with the previous review - the food is MEDIOCRE. I went to Barcelona twice and both visits were not satisfactory. If you still insist going here, don't order their Lasagna ... ugh ... taste terrible. The fish dishes quite OK I think. more
