Best Quick Casual Mexican 10/18/2010

Food is fresh, healthy and tastes great. Portions are large and you get what you want on your item. I really like the Barbacoa Pork. The employees are friendly. You can't get a better meal for $6.50. Food is better and lower priced than competitors. Only negative is it is often too busy for lunch. more

Big, Almost Too Big 10/2/2010

The last time I went to Barbacoa it was awesome. I would definately have to say that the Honey Sweet Pork Burrito is the best Sweet Pork in all of Utah. There is nothing that compares to it. more

I suspect they use MSG 8/27/2009

I have had a migraine for 2 days ever since I ate a chicken burrito at Barbacoa. I suspect they are using MSG in their cooking. It can also cause stomach and intestinal problems (which I read in another review) I will not be going back there. more

Best Burrito's in town 8/25/2009

I love this place, I recently made friends with one of the staff and every time I come in he gives me a free soda :) Also, try this combination, it's the only one I get Burrito, no rice, Pinto Beans, Barbacoa Pork, Cheese, Hot Sauce, Sour Cream, Lettuce..... mm delicious, and there Salsa to go with the chips is incredible. Pros: Amazing food Cons: Pricey more

Gone downhill 5/11/2009

5 years ago Barbacoa was by far the best burrito place in town. Then they started jacking up prices every 6 months. I still went there until one day I ordered a steak burrito -- the young woman could barely understand what I was ordering, but I digress -- she got me a nice big scoop of steak, and SHOOK THE SPOON so steak fell off because apparently she had given me too much. I then realized that it's turning into a Mexican Subway where workers are encouraged to screw customers. I only go there now when I have a gift card, and I would like to note that the steak is not nearly as good as it used to be. Go to Chipotle, Cafe Rio, or Molcasalsa instead. Pros: Decent quality, clean, fast Cons: Overpriced, small servings, some bad workers more

What?? ""SMALL PORTIONS"". 2/25/2007

I don't know what these people are saying, ""SMALL PORTIONS"". Whatever. I can eat alot of food, and I can't even finish off a burrito!! I guess there are alot of competetive eaters in SLC, because they give you alot of food. Pros: awesome food for a good price. Cons: small isles between tables more

Overpriced, Small Serving Sizes 7/7/2006

The food is still pretty good, but it has become WAY overpriced and the serving sizes keep getting smaller and smaller. They're half what they were originally. I don't feel the need to personally finance their further expansion. There are plenty of other places out there that offer good, reasonably priced fare. Pros: Fairly Good Food Cons: Way over priced, tortilas are extra $, serving sizes keep shrinking more

Beware sensitive stomachs 4/3/2006

It was Sunday and my usual big burrito spot downtown was closed, so I needed to get my fix elsewhere. That led me straight to Barbacoa. At my other joint, I usually get a shredded beef burrito enchilada style. Barbacoa offered nearly the same thing. I was very happy with the taste and the proportions. However, my girlfriend and I had VERY sour stomachs later and spent a good deal of time in the bathroom. Sometimes, my stomach is sensitive, but never at my usual burrito joint. I don't know if I just went on a bad day, but right now I have no intentions of going back there ... as my stomach is STILL a little shakey even as I write this review. more

Not the cheapest - but the best! 11/2/2005

Barbacoa has been my favorite stop for burritos since I discovered it. On the trendy corner of 9th & 9th, it doesn't have the most fabulous atmosphere compared to its surroundings (Tower theater, Coffee Garden, Centered City Yoga). But they have the best burritos ever! While it's more expensive than your typical Taco Bell, they'll fill up a man-sized belly (and as a petite woman, I usually get 2 meals out of one veggie burrito). And try all 3 salsas! Pros: freshness , tasty, service Cons: hours more

Oh how I love the CILANTRO LIME RICE! 1/8/2003

Barabcoa has fresh, healthy, and scruptious ingredients. That is what makes their burritos tops for me. The CILANTRO LINE rice is fragrant, and adds a great zip to their burritos. The prices are fairly reasonable. I would suggest anyone in the mood for fresh and healthy food stop by. more

Best in class 11/7/2002

The price (despite what others has said) has been stable, except for a spike in beef prices. Compared to Cafe Rio (another good restaurant, but quite overrated and over-hyped, in my opinion), Barbacoa burritos have a great blend of different tastes (delicious meats, great salsas, yummy cilantro-lime rice, and fresh vegetables in a fresh steamed tortilla). In contrast, other restaurants' burritos end up tasting like the sauce that is put on them. Additionally, the burritos are stuffed to bulging and are big enough to make you waddle out of the restaurant, without having to pay for extras. Long live Barbacoa!! Pros: Fast, Fresh more

Good food - ok price. 7/12/2002

Good food, small portions, medium-high price. Loud, fast food type enviroment.. Pros: good food, not too spicy Cons: high prices, small portions more

Growing price, shrinking portions 5/29/2002

When Barbacoa first opened several years ago I was a regular customer. The food was great, portions were good and the prices were reasonable. Since then it seems they have done everything possible to get more and more out of their customers while providing less and less in return. Every time I go it seems they have raised their prices again, shrunk their portions, or started charging extra for things like tortillas. In my opinion its no longer worth it. Go to Cafe Rio or Molca Salsa instead. more
