Amazing Fried Rice! 2/10/2010

My girlfriend and I are obsessed with this place. We go at least every other week. They have the best crispy crab wontons (P-3) that I have ever had. The GF always gets pho (P-5) and raves, and I always have the Ballet Fried Rice (P-63) and it is some of the best fried rice I have ever had. This is definitely one of my favourite places to dine, and it's fairly inexpensive as well (around $20-25 for that, without beer/sake.) The wait staff is very friendly and attentive too! Pros: Great fried rice! Cons: The Santa thing at XMas time never stopped going off! more

The pho has never failed me 1/15/2010

The pho has never failed me, their vermicelli is amazing, too. The service is great, as well. Quick table service. They're not expensive, I've never had to wait too long, so they get 5 stars. more

Real nice place 5/21/2009

The people are real nice and service if perfect. I like the food my wife was not really sold but next time we go we will try something else. Pros: Good quality food Cons: No drawback for my wife and I more

A treasure on Capitol Hill 3/17/2008

The most amazing curry I've ever had! You can't get anymore authentic than this! People were genuinely nice, service was quick and attentive, and the food, well if the curry was that delicious then I can't wait to try everything else! This restaurant will definitely be a highly recommended dining experience in my book. Pros: People & Food more

There are better places to eat. 2/22/2008

I ate their vermicelli bowl with mock chicken. The mock chicken was somehow bland and salty at the same time. It also looked dark and unappetizing. The noodles and vegetables were okay. The sauce was boring and served cold, which made the hot dish tepid. Also, I did not realize they were charging extra for choosing the mock chicken instead of the tofu. I would much rather eat at In the Bowl, which has many options and a good texturized soy protein chicken more

Great QUALITY food, Good QUALITY people!! 1/27/2008

Why go anywhere else when all you need is a quick BALLET fix'n..and when I say quick, I mean QUICK! Service and staff couldn't be anymore friendly and attentative but what will definitely bring me back is the spectacular tasting fresh delicious food! You can expect my lifetime business here because this is definitely one place thats left on the hill where you can't go wrong. Cons: Closed on Sundays more

Attentive waitstaff, QUICK service for weekday lunch 11/8/2007

Ate lunch on a weekday afternoon. I ordered the tofu curry with vegetables. I asked for 1-star spiciness. The vegetables were cooked to perfection (not too soft, not too crunchy) but, overall, the meal tasted bland. There was nothing wrong with it--it just wasn't terrific. Pros: Quick service, attentive waitstaff Cons: Meals not as big as other reviewers asserted more

Fantastic Everything! 10/13/2006

Absolutely CRAZY about this place. After hearing so many praises and ""you have to try ballet"" I decided to make a quick stop in for lunch. Not only was the service quick, attentive, and friendly but the the food was also tasteful and very very fulfilling. One thing was for sure, there was not one inch of blandness in my dishes, you definitely have to come for their delicious curry, and homemade pho (vegetarian or beef). I ejoyed it so much I came back for dinner that same day, with some friends! One things for sure this is one place I wont stop dining at, not even for the ave more

Meh. 9/30/2006

While I've walked by Ballet many times before, the dingy storefront kept me from ever walking in. After seeing the shining reviews on Citysearch, my boyfriend and I thought that we'd give it a try. On a positive note, the inside is actually a lot nicer than the outside would suggest. The food, however, is not. My spring roll was limp but oh kay. Both my boyfriend's shrimp fried rice and my cashew chicken stirfry were painfully bland. I slowly chopsticked food in my mouth and intermittently peeked at the dying fish in the fish tank get beat around by the other fish. When the bill came, we felt pretty screwed. Any asian restaurant on University Ave costs the same but tastes much better. more

Basically perfect 7/9/2006

Ballet is perhaps the greatest restaurant in Seattle on a quality to dollar ratio. Great for vegetarians and carnivours alike, and every item tried by anyone I know has not been anything less than spectacular. The service is quick, attentive, and friendly. The prices are almost jaw-droppingly low. Pros: Great food for meat eaters and veggies, at a low price Cons: Not open on Sunday (can't get enough) more

great lunch spot 7/4/2006

I love this place. Everyone who works there is fantastic and the food is always hot and delicious and served SO quickly. Pros: food, service, prices Cons: decor more

Excellent vegetarian options. 5/26/2006

Although it doesn't look like much, this place is delicious. My boyfriend and I tried the faux beef pho and some kind of curry soup. Both were amazing - some of the best soups I've ever had. This place is good for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike, and it's also ridiculously cheap. I'm planning to go back soon. Pros: Soups, Veggie options Cons: Decor more

The Best in Seattle 8/1/2003

This restaurant is THE place to go for cheap eats!! The food is awesome, service is fast and friendly and prices are so reasonable. No secret on Capitol Hill, this place is usually crowded but it is worth trying out. Pros: food is awesome, service is great, reasonable prices more

Great food, nice folks 12/7/2002

GREAT food at incredible prices! The waitstaff is very friendly, too. The one thing the Ballet does NOT have is any kind of ambience. But with great Pho like you can get here, who gives a damn! Bring a book or a friend, and the decor won't matter as much. Pros: good food, inexpensive, good wait staff Cons: no ambiance more

Tasty treats! 7/26/2002

Ballet is the best food on Capitol Hill! Try the tofu curry w/veggies #17, veggie Pho or spring rolls with tofu. Great food for meat eaters and veggies alike at a great price. Pros: Inexpensive, Tasty, good selection more

Fantastic cheap food 6/28/2002

The ambiance stinks, but who cares? The food is so good, so fast, and so tasty, that I'm willing to overlook the cheap tables, dingey lighting, and wood paneling. Lots of yummy dishes for vegetarians, and a salad dressing to die for. Tasty, cheap, and super friendly service. Pros: Inexpensive, Quality food, Vegetarian meals Cons: Dingey ambiance more
