Just not worth it 3/12/2006

always support local restaurants, so that makes it even harder for me to state that I was completely disappointed by my last visit here. The atmosphere is great. Everything else wasn't. All four people ordered steak entrees and all were overcooked. One was sent back. The waitress was not pleasant or apologetic. Once the food was delivered right it was good but not worth the price. The wine list is overpriced for the wine they offer as well. All this and a bill for over $350. I am sorry to say this is not a local place I will visit again. more

Great food, jazz...and a ghost too! 9/25/2005

Baker Peters Jazz Club is a terrific place for dinner. Their menu is excellent. We love their steaks. Always cooked to perfection and served beautifully. Baker Peters is located in an antebellum home that was mercifully saved from the wrecking ball...probably on more than one occasion. If you like live entertainment, their upstairs lounge has terrific jazz nearly every night of the week. While you're up there, have a martini. There is something for everyone. And be sure to look for the ghost of Abner Baker. He was hanged just after the Civil War after avenging his father's death at the hands of Union Soldiers. Be sure to ask about it and go downstairs to see the bullet holes in the door. The food is always great and the atmosphere is always fun at Baker Peters. more

jazz, food and drinks 8/25/2005

This is the favorite gathering place when out on the town because the drinks are stiff and great and the food is always good and the people are SO fun and the music is always top notch. And the building is historical and quite beautiful which carries a smooth ambience of culture surrounding it's fine walls. The food is tasty and wine is delicious* relaxing to the sweet tunes of jazz entertainment. A little pricey, but, hey, look at your surroundings and enjoy - this place is fabulous! If you like jazz you have to try out baker peters in west knoxville. Music is great and you may catch an up and coming (if not already famous) musician playing! more

Great Atmosphere! 8/18/2005

Baker Peters Jazz Club has a great upscale atmosphere. It is located in the heart of West Knoxville and you may miss it if you don't know that it is there. They have inside dining and outside dining year around which is nice. They have live Jazz music and also some cover bands at times. The atmosphere at the Friday happy hour is nice because it is a mix of professionals from the area. However, there is limited parking so get there early to get a good space. more
