Just Like Real Baja 4/1/2008

I visited Baja Burrito for the first time today and it was FABULOUS!!! Yes, the parking was tight and the line was long but it was so worth it. I just visited Puerto Vallarta, MX a couple months ago and this food rivals the real thing! Heck, it is the real thing! I had 2 chicken tacos on corn tortillas (corn tortillas are the real Mexican way....) I would have ordered a burrito but they are so big it was WAY more than I could have eaten. The salsa bar was very good. A little different tastes than I've ever had but so excellent I went back for seconds! I will definitely brave the crowd to get this taste again. more

Baja Burrito is a Nashville institution. It is always, always full, the best indicator of good food. The menu is basic: burritos, tacos, taco salad, chips and salsa. From there, though, you can customize and get what you want exactly as you want it -- flour, spinach or wheat tortilla, chicken, beef, black or pinto beans, rice, all the standard taco/burrito toppings. Everything's fresh, the folks on the "line" aren't stingy with the fillings, and (an important point many small restaurants miss) it is consistent. The self-serve salsa bar usually has four different choices; my favorite is the sweet pineapple salsa, but they're all good and always fresh. Sodas are also self-serve with free refills. Seating is tight, and the restaurant is usually pretty loud. Outdoor seating helps with the crowd but not the noise (it's right next to Thompson Lane). more

Baja Forever 8/17/2005

Baja is Nashville's finest when it comes to burritos. There are other places to get good burritos in town, but me it always has to be Baja. The service at Baja is usually good and the more you go, the better it gets because most of the people have been there for a while. The atmosphere is great. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get and if you leave and are still hungry, it's your fault, because they'll give you plenty of food. Don't leave without trying the pineapple salsa and fruit tea. Also don't forget to enjoy your complimentary pack of gum on the way out. more
