Last weekend I visited Bailey Slipper Shop with my daughter to get a new pair of pointe shoes. My daughter always goes through pointe shoes rather quickly and we wanted to get a pair that would last longer. The younger woman fitted us and was extremely helpful. She found many pairs of shoes and my daughter must have tried at least 15 before finding the perfect ones. We ended up getting Grishkos in the hardest shank and so far my daughter has been very pleased with them.I don't understand why so many of the reviews were negative because of all the pointe shoe stores we have tried this has been by far the best. more

I have been dancing for years and have recently returned to dancing on pointe. The shoes I used to wear are no longer made. I had called and made an appointment for a pointe shoe fitting well in advance.\r When I arrived in the store (which is well stocked and the two sales ladies behind the counter, one young one older were very friendly) my first impression was good. \r That quickly changed when the pointe shoes fitter came out. She did not greet me or smile and looked somewhere between bored and annoyed that someone my age (I'm in my late 40's) should bother her.\r She looked at my feet, handed me some toe pads and brought out one pair of shoes which I tried on. My first comment was: these are too big (I could put two fingers down the back of the shoe). Well they look good on your foot, was her comment. I said they do not feel right, I do not like them. She stalked off to the store room and brought out a smaller size. They were okay but something did not feel right about them.\r I aske more

We had a similar experience today with a VERY RUDE sales person. The store in Pittsford closes at 5:30 and we walked in at 5:28; the door was still open. The older woman advised that they closed at 5:30 to which we responded we would be swift because we knew what we wanted. The older red haired woman was VERY RUDE while getting the correct size for us.\r When I asked for a size bigger she got very mad and was reluctant to help. Upon paying and leaving I thanked her for her help to which I received a grunt and the door slammed behind me. If this store were not the only location that I knew of I would have walked out upon her greeting of "We close at 5:30". I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE NO MATTER HOW BAD I NEED SHOES EVER AGAIN! What terrible manner for an older person who works with primarily children to display. She really needs to go back to school and take Customer Service 101 or Quit! more

At first when going to the Brockport Store, I left the salesclerk was not friendly at all. But the last time, I was in there in March 2010, my daughter had to buy white tap shoes for her recital. The young girl who waited on me, is a college student and she was so friendly and helpful. And I left my credit card there, she called me and I was already home which was 45 mins away. I made arrangements for my brother to pick up my credit card from her. She had even given me her cell phone # in case he couldnt get there in time. I hope to go back in a few weeks and I hope that girl is there.. I really like that she had the business head and compassion for me regarding the credit card more

Very disappointed. Bought my 3 your daughters ballet and tap shoes and outfits..... Had everything fitted and at the next ballet class found the ballet too small. Went right there after class to ask for an exchange since they were fitted by the salesperson and they refused. Spent close to 100.00 there and will never go again more

I also heard rumors about rude salespeople but I was in desperate need of an item the day of a competition, so I went there and was pleasantly surprised- a young salesgirl whose name begins with "M" was extremely helpful and patient- even offering to order what I needed. Although the girl at the counter seemed a little stressed as I overheard her being quite curt with a phone customer- prices were the same as everywhere else including on-line companies. The hours are much more accommodating than other dance supply stores in the area. more

I have to say when I came onto this page to look up the store hours, I laughed. I called Bailey Slipper Shop this past Saturday to just get the store hours and the girl who answered was extremely rude and snotty. She acted as if answering the phone as well as my questions was the biggest inconvenience she'd ever encountered. To see the comments other customers have written who have actually gone to the store only solidified that this girls rudeness wasn't just in my head. I am going to give the store a shot and if this girl is there and treats us as poorly as it sounds she has some of the other customers, we will NOT be buying from the store and the manager will be contacted. more

My daughter and I have been shopping their since she started dancing at 18 months old. When we go in they have the most friendly, helpful knowledgeable staff. They treat my daughter with kindness every time. We have never been anything but pleased with service, prices, selection, and for shopping their for 10 yrs says a lot. Thank you to ALL THE STAFF! more

I had the same experience with the same young salesperson. I can only assume she is owner's daughter, otherwise she would never have a job in retail.\r \r She basically bullied us into a pair of pointe shoes that didn't fit my daughter--her first pair, completely ruined the experience. \r \r My daughter tried on a pair of tights and she said it was unsanitary for people to try on tights before purchase (???). \r \r I drive now to the west side of town to buy supplies--I wont deal with them unless I have to.\r \r The other sales people in the store are nice--this girl really ruins it. more

I had honestly been avoiding Bailey's because I had "heard" that they weren't very helpful and their prices were high. I decided to stop in one day and was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was VERY helpful and cheerful, and their prices were much lower than other stores I had shopped in. I now go there for all my daughter's dance needs. more

We must have had the same young salesperson as the previous reviewer. What should have been a fun and joyful experience for my daughter (buying her very first pair of dance shoes), turned into a depressing chore as we seemed to only bother and annoy the miserable young lady. And we were the only ones in the store!! She ruined this once-in-a-lifetime rite-of-passage for my little girl. Thanks ever so much. My daughter has been in your store a couple of times for ballet shoes, accessories, etc. and found your young sales person to be very rude and condescending. She had this attitude that only she knew everything there was to know about toe shoes and her snotty demeanor has made us not want to shop there any more.\r \r Sincerely, \r Disappointed, Mt. The staff at Baily Slipper shop is phenomenal. They fit my daughter's pointe shoes--with relentless precision...trying on pair after pair until the best possible fit was achieved. They are not limited to ballet shoes, but others were there for tap and other dance shoes and they appeared satisfied as well. more

The sales people are very friendly and knowledgable about dance equipment. We a very pleased when we leave Bailey's. They have a fine selection of items. more
