Yum!! 4/16/2006

Back 40 Junction Restaurant at 1011 North 13th in Decatur is an excellent place to go when you are really hungry. The prices are extremely reasonable for all that is offered. They have a special salad bar, meat bar (where the meat is cut from a large cut to your order), a desert bar and a bread table. The refrigerator rolls are to die for! There are several options for buffet, in case you are only moderately hungry. Lots of free parking out in front of the restaurant. Nice serving staff! more

It's worth the drive! 9/8/2005

Gone are the days when we used to get together at Grandma's house after church for dinner. The atmosphere of this restaurant completely embodies the older simpler way of life. Delicious rolls, meats, cheeses, desserts, ice creams, unlimited beverages and even a discount for birthdays! The prime rib is fabulous and the nights they have crab legs are a little costly but you can eat all you want. A salad bar with some unusual finds and the old familiar favorites. A dessert bar with something pleasing for all ages and taste palates. A meat bar with juicy prime rib, ham, and some other tasty treats! The drive on 27 is simple quick and easy. The signs on the right side of the road let you know you are getting closer. I never had anything there I didn't like! more

Go Hungry! 8/18/2005

The Back 40 is an amazing place. We love the decor and the train things outdoors. the food is plentiful and very good. You can make a meal just on the Salad Bar alone(they have alot of great salads and relishes). The dinner table buffet is wonderful, they have ham and carved rast beef that is to die for. If you have room they have some wonderful desserts too! more

BACK 40 Is the best of the Best 6/20/2005

I cannot say enough good things about this place. The food is to die for, the people are the best in the world, and the food is to die for. I have never had a better experience in a restaurant in my life. The kids loved it, as well as my husband and I. It is so worth a stop in every now and then. So much worth the price. more

Owner Message
  • Walking in the door of the Back 40 Junction is like stepping back in time.
The main dining room holds a priceless Tiffany chandelier. Fascinating
artifacts decorate the walls and ceilings, including whaler's lamps,
authentic Burma Shave highway signs and oil lamps once owned by
    Carol Lombard.

You'll see the area's largest collection of sculptures by John Rogers,
dating from the mid-1800s. Antique Barnum and Bailey Circus posters
adorn the walls of our Nickel Plate Pub, which also houses copper brewing equipment from Fort Wayne's Centlivre Brewery.

Please be sure to call us to make reservations. We do not take reservations over email. Also please note that we only hand write gift certificates. If you are from out-of-town and need a gift certificate, please give us a call. We can send it to you in the mail. Please stop by, we would love to see you!
