Another stop in my epic quest to sample as many Boston burgers as I can find, I was pleased with b.good, but not blown away.
Any place that has sweet potato fries and shakes instantly has an unfair advantage. These are the perfect compliments to a burger, in my mind, and both are done well here at b.good. The shakes are tasty and well sized, and the fries are baked to perfection - never an easy task with sweet potatoes. They have a good selection of tasty toppings they'll slap on your burger, including mushrooms, a variety of cheeses, various greens, all of which make for a good burger. The patties themselves run on the thicker side, but in my experience have always been deliciously juicy, sometimes to the point of bursting when you bite in.
That said, there's never been anything about it that makes me want to go back again and again. I think I've been two or three times in the past year, and though I've enjoyed it, I've never suggested it when friends ask for local burgers to try. I unfortunately can't quite put my finger on why I'm not a huge fan. Maybe it's the sterile (but friendly!) fast food-ish environment? Maybe it's the baked fries that always taste just a little too healthy? Or maybe it's the mild lack of something on every burger I've had, so that despite their tasty toppings individually, and yummy and juicy patty, the flavor combinations have never perfectly matched up...
In any case, this is an excellent place, and if prices were a little cheaper I'd probably be making regular trips down to Harvard to grab a burger for lunch on the weekends.
I should also mention, they are participating in this iPhone ""Stamp"" program. I'm not sure what it does, but go ahead and download the app to your phone and check it out when you get there.
Pros: Baked fries, shakes, and tasty burgers
Cons: price, baked fries
