Pretty good, but no bargain 6/2/2006

Sunset is a tap bar. They boast something like 144 beers on tap (that may be inaccurate). And then they have an outrageous bottled beer selection, even some crazy root beers and bottled beverages. They have weekly menus that have beer specials listed on the front, but beware, though the price looks good, you're often buying an odd sized drink. It might only be 3 bucks for some crazy German lambic you've never heard of, but it's very possible that the sale price is for an 8 oz. glass. And if you don't specify, they may pour you a full pint and charge you double. Don't get me wrong, they're not trying to screw you, their selection is really great and their beer is really fresh. And if you join their club, after perhaps 300 beers, you'll get a t-shirt and maybe your name on the back of a stool. As far as food goes, it's all pretty good. The Asian chicken salad is awesome. Their burgers are good, but end up getting expensive with toppings...specials are usually pretty great too, lobster raviolis mmmmm. more

Give this a try! 2/13/2006

I really appreciate that this restaurant is in my neighborhood. It's a perfect place to go when it's late and most other places have closed or when you have a group of people who all have different food and budget requirements. For those on a budget there is a choice of Steamburger, Oceanburger (fried fish patty), Chicken Breast or Veggie Burger all under $5. They come with a bag of chips. You can upgrade to fries for and additional $1.95. You can also add items such as cheese or tomatoes or bacon for a nominal fee. All the above items are good. The veggie burger is bigger than the type you'd buy at the grocery store. Their appetizer list is long and vast. Nachos are giant and could easily feed 6 to 8 as an appetizer. I was never that impressed by the potato skins but if you like wings, you're in luck. They have real wings, as well as the boneless variety. Wings are pretty much a staple in any beer-themed restaurant but they do prepare them well here. They also have entrees that start around $10 and go up. I almost think that these items are unnecessary. There's plenty of sandwich options from $6-$8. The Tuna sandwich is served open face with mounds of tuna on each slice of bread. The Cajun Chicken sandwich is slightly spicy but not overwhelmingly so. Both come with fries and are tasty and filling. There are salads, which are pretty mediocre. Lettuce is lettuce no matter where you go. If you really want a salad, this isn't the best place to grab one. If you want a beer, with over 100 different varieties, this is the place to be. The place can get really noisy when it's full and the service is usually good but occasionally it could be better. Usually we're too full on beer and food to order dessert. But we did order the Mud pie once. It was good once it thawed. It arrived at the table frozen rock hard. We took it home with us and 20 minutes later, it was of the perfect consistency. more

I went to Sunset Grill for the first time a week ago. I've already been twice. They have over 400 different beers. The menu is huge! Service and food is an A+++++ more

Made for hungry college students! 9/8/2005

Sunset grill is the place to go for cheap food and huge portions. Each dish is big enough to feed two people. Food tastes decent and turnover is pretty fast. Good selection of beers. Great place to hang out with friends or to get take outs. Friendly atmosphere. Easily accessible by subway or by bus. Area is safe enough o wander around late at night. more
