Love to skate there! 3/18/2009

I have ice skated at this rink quite a few times and I have such a good time. It may not be fit for royalty, but it's a great rink. Good prices and very nice staff and great instuctors. I looked at the reviews other people left on this site. I just want to say something: Alexanna (Baybay) D, or who ever you are. I aggree that the bathrooms here are not that great and it's not the best rink in the world, but you are way out of line when you make fun of the people who skate there. I quote you here: "If you happen to get there around 3:30 -4:00 just get a bag of popcorn from the AMC sit down and watch the ice show as Arlington's most untalented and unwanted will vie for your attention... it is indeed the best show around, shamefully funny and absolutely free! The learn to skate classes are a hoot!!" ---- end of quote This site is to rate the bussiness, not the people who go there and want to learn something new. more

2007 Updates: Ridgelea Iceland Skating Center/ Ice at the parks 10/1/2007

2007 Winners: Kudos to the New Fort Worth Ice ( Formerly Ridgelea Iceland Skating Center)!!! New director, new name, impressive and decorated coaching staff, and new attitude will help add this rink into the list of DFW's top ice rinks. 2007 Losers: Ice at the Parks. Arlington. Website and photo are not enough. Same old mess! At least you'll be able to put a face to my previous article!! - Ice Dookie at the Parks Mall. Thanksamillion!! ( Ex: Ridgelea's former "director" is a "trainer" here. ) Suspiciously missing are the names and resumes of figures coaching staff... as they have no doubt been embellished to superstar proportions on paper. A head coach ( turned Ice @ Parks director) of the failed Tandy Center ice rink as well as the former director for Tandy can both be found. I@P is the place to be: where top bottom feeders find refuge. Talented skaters will still be shunned... director and rink mgr. will still turn blind eye... Aspiring students will be held back at parent's expense. Coaches will still be the involved in some sort of off/on ice shenanigans either with patrons or each other. Students will still not learn to skate properly, some finding themselves in pre-juvie limbo. Those disheartened souls will come to the sobering realization that it is not for the love of skating that their coaches are present . Warm bodies atop blades= $$$$$ . No matter how high the price, they will do what it takes to get and keep you skating or to get you out. Maybe someone up top will wake up, and realize the combination's all wrong: The oven's set, you have all the right equipment, but the quality of ingredients and measurements are all wrong ... A change is long in coming and long overdue.... Baybay says, The truth will set you free! more

IceDookie @ the Parks,The Parks Mall in Arlington:Skate at your own risk 9/14/2006

Nicely situated in the heart of the entertainment wing at the Parks Mall in Arlington, one would take in the smells of the upper-level restaurants, Capuccino wafting in from the near-by Starbucks and the smell of urine and feces assaulting you as you make your way into Ice @the Parks restrooms. Unsanitary public restrooms, locker room restrooms, and ice surface is why I call IceDookie @ the Parks. To a new or one-time visitor one might shrug it off as a one time-occurrence but being a regular of 3 years, I can tell you it is not. The janitorial staff consists of 15-19 year old hockey and clueless figure skaters with very minimal supplies and cleaners ( windex and paper towels). Faulty or missing sink/plumbing in locker rooms and bathrooms are just retarded. I can not say much about the ice just ... watch out and wear a mouth guard. In 3 years, I have personally witness the rink management check the level of the ice 4 times.Once was to paint the hockey lines because the Zamboni driver had shaved off the last layers of ice taking the paint off with it!! Lack of skate guards or inattentive skate guards is not cool ... I've seen children pick holes in the ice and seen adults and children flying right into them .. either knocking out teeth or being carried off in a stretcher. Sometimes accidents were due to ridges left in the ice after a Zam or when the "experienced staff cut the ice...downward sloping into the walls. This sloping caused skaters to fall flat on their backs ..reminiscent of the " Home Alone" falls.. This is not a rink for serious minded and competitive skaters be it figure or hockey. This rink only serves for recreational purposes at best. Any skaters who hope to compete in the upper strata of US figure skating and who would like to consider this rink will not be welcomed here by staff or regulars unless you are under the watchful eye of a qualified trainer ( from somewhere else for on the ice protection - bodyguard).Go spend your money elsewhere for a qualified trainer. If a trainer does not boast gold/silver medals in any USFSA events or international competition, Olympic medals, championship gold or silver on their brochure...no matter what nationality they are beware!!! If they did not do well for themselves they will not do well by you. The best time to skate is usually on Mondays... all day. Tue,Wed,Thur 9AM-2PM, Fri 1-2pm....From 2PM Mon-Wed on ???....forgettaboutit!!! - If you happen to get there around 3:30 -4:00 just get a bag of popcorn from the AMC sit down and watch the ice show as Arlington's most untalented and unwanted will vie for your attention... it is indeed the best show around, shamefully funny and absolutely free! The learn to skate classes are a hoot!! Show time is 5:15 PM Tuesdays. People ages 50-95 and those with serious health problems are urged to check with a physician before viewing . I give Dookie@the Parks 5 stars based on entertainment value more

A bit of a story and review 9/7/2005

let me begin by saying that we have several people living here with us from New Orleans. We took them to the mall this weekend and ice was offering free admission to all from LA and MS. They treated our guest so kindly and (mayor was there for photo opp) they felt so welcome. The shoes are a bit dated though, but all in all a good time. more

Fun while shopping 9/6/2005

The Ice at the Parks is a place where the whole family can enjoy a fun place to learn to skate or beat the Texas heat. The skate prices are reasonable, and the kids have a blast. It is fun and a learning experience for the enite family. The offer lessons, and hockey there also. So if you just want to watch you can.  more

Ice skating 8/21/2005

The closest and one of the best ice rinks is located inside the Parks mall. A great place for the kids and grown ups to skate whenever they want. They also have hockey practice and also teachers teaching how to skate and do figureskating like moves. one of the funnest attractions at the mall. Overall great place to go if you love to ice skate but its not cold enough in texas for a frozen lake. more

Ice Skate Year Round 7/29/2005

A grand ice rink located inside the Parks mall. A great opportunity for the young and old alike to skate year round. They also have area hockey teams practice and also teachers with professional skaters practice here. Its something new to teach the kids when their small but even if you don't skate they have seating and its fun to just watch. more

Ice skating! 7/25/2005

If i wasn't so bad at ice skating, I might go more. Other than that I can at least enjoy watching hockey at night when they practice. the price was pretty reasonable and they are even open on holidays like thanksgiving and christmas, not so nice for the employees but when you get bored its nice to get out. more
