A great place for a getaway! 6/26/2010

Austin's Inn at Pearl Street is a great place to go, for a weekend getaway or a longer stay. The old Victorian-era houses have been meticulously restored, and are appointed with an excellent collection of period antiques and art, creating an atmosphere that is awe-inspiring, romantic, and relaxing. After a quick walk to a nearby restaurant (there are plenty in the area) for dinner, we spent the remainder of the evening outside on the patio, surrounded by giant trees, talking with our firends who were there with us. Our room was magnificently appointed, with a very comfortable king-size bed. We plan on returning for another evening with friends, and I would highly recommend a stay there! Pros: Atmosphere, decor, location Cons: None! more

Fun with Friends 6/19/2010

Our visit to Austin’s Inn at Pearl Street was fun and romantic. We met up with some friends for an evening of relaxation and conversation. Austin’s Inn at Pearl Street was the perfect place to do it. \r \r We each had our privacy in our well decorated bedrooms (each with its own private, and equally well decorated, bathroom) as well as a myriad of comfortable and spacious areas for mingling. \r \r The outdoor patio area is a beautiful venue with sparkling lights accented by the calming sound of a waterfall in the background. It was nice to sit and share wine and stories.\r \r Our night ended with a well deserved rest in a very comfortable king size bed…something often difficult to find.\r \r It is evident that quality service and surroundings is complementary and abundant. Our on-site manager, Shannon, made it a point to see that our stay was enjoyable.\r \r I would highly recommend a stay at Austin’s Inn at Pearl Street. Even if you live in Austin, it is a nice getaway without having to go too far.\r Pros: Quiet, well decorated more

What a girl's Night 6/18/2010

My co-workers and I stayed at the Inn on a weeknight recently. We spent the evening sipping wine and enjoying a relaxing evening of girl talk on the patio.\r \r Right as dusk hit the trees lit up and the entire place began to sparkle!\r \r I stayed in the French room and LOVED LOVED the decor. We had a fantastic tour of the Inn, and I loved how each room was decorated with it's own theme. The Inn owner and staff were very accommodating as well. I had a great time with my friends and would love to come back here again soon with my boyfriend because it is such a romantic setting. I can't believe how close we were to several great happy hour locations. We just walked right over to Cuatros and had $3 Long Island Iced Teas.\r \r What a memorable night, thank you Austin's Inn at Pearl Street- I needed that relaxing evening!\r Pros: Relaxing, close to everything, comfortable beds Cons: older houses more

Romantic get away right in the middle of the city . . . 6/17/2010

We stayed there last Saturday and had a fabulous time! Walking distance to nice restaurants, loved the decor and Spa bathtub! VERY ROMANTIC! Also, the beautiful gardening and layout of the fountain at the foot of the patio between the 100+ year old restored buildings its almost as if you aren't even in the City, until you want to go out and enjoy the nightlife . . . ; ) Pros: Beautiful landscaping, excellent decor more

Tucked away downtown treasure 6/15/2010

Austin’s Inn at Pearl Street is a delightful retreat near the heart of downtown. There are many different rooms from which to choose and each has its own unique décor which is very charming. Our room, the Venetian, featured a Jacuzzi tub and an extremely comfortable bed that made for a very restful night. The outdoor seating areas are all very well shaded and well kept. It was very enjoyable being able to sit outside in a relaxed atmosphere and visit with the other guests. Austin’s Inn at Pearl Street is definitely a place that would be worth visiting again as a couple, small group, or even as a large party. You won’t be disappointed with your stay! Pros: Beautiful property, Great rooms Cons: Downtown noise more

Treasure with Character 6/15/2010

The Inn at Pearl Street is exactly what I think of when the notion of an upper-end B&B or boutique hotel comes to mind. Older buildings with character oozing from every room. The GOOD kind of character! Character such as old hardwood floors restored to pristine condition ... every room having a different theme that has been painstakingly interpreted through décor and ambiance ... updates where you want them (e.g., plumbing) but not where you don't ... antiques and artifacts sprinkled about in just the right amount. Yes, this place has character. Then there's the outside ... awesome! Several patio areas all under a canopy of live oak and other soaring trees. Plenty of tables and chairs for relaxing, gnoshing, or enjoying a spot of tea or glass of wine. The night was a bit warm and humid when we were there, but it was still divine. The trees and buildings combine to create a sense of privacy even though you're walking distance from some great night life. Hotel staff were there to help us with the details of our stay, and we got to speak with the owner for a bit ... she was very kind and obviously dedicated to the property, having saved it from ruin and built up what we enjoyed so thoroughly. The Inn would be a fabulous setting for a large group reunion. I have a group from school that gets together at various spots around the country every year, and I'm going to suggest we make it a weekend at the Inn next time around. It's a great location to enjoy some privacy, but still be able to get to the hot spots in Austin on foot or via a short drive. Pros: Setting, Proximity, Character Cons: No hot breakfast more

Better Than Expected 6/14/2010

The view from Martin Luther King Blvd. along the front of the property doesn't do this inn justice. The property is comprised of four separate buildings which are nestled together around an expanse of multi level, cozy deck and patio gathering spaces. There are water features which provide a lovely background sound as you sit beneath huge live oaks filled with twinkling lights. It's a romantic setting, to be certain - but also a great gathering space for a large group of people to mingle and meet. The buildings are each restored with a great attention to detail and are filled with antiques from all around the world. The bedrooms each have a unique theme - and the decor is both whimsical and elegant. I'd recommend this boutique hotel to anyone looking for a beautiful gathering spot. (And by the way - there is parking too! A bonus for a down town property!) Pros: Beautiful Decks and Patios for Gathering Cons: Continental Breakfast more

Greatest value for a getaway in Austin! 4/12/2010

Great hospitality, convenient location, fabulous decor inside and out. Unbelievably comfortable bed with fine linens. We are going to tell all of our friends and can't wait to stay again soon! Pros: Decor, hospitality, comfort Cons: Nothing to think of! more

Perfect place for a wedding and weekend getaway! 2/11/2010

My husband and I recently had the reception for our daughter's wedding at the Inn at Pearl Street. Since we live out of town, I relied on Jill Bickford to arrange everything. The party was PERFECT! I received many compliments on the Inn and the party. Jill worked very hard and with much expertise to insure that the party was stress free for me adn lots of fun for our guests. Her staff was superb. My husband and I, and the bride and groom spend the weekend and the Inn as well and really enjoyed it.\r \r I would highly recommend the Inn at Pearl Street weather you are looking for a nice place to stay that feels more luxurious than home or weather you need to have a nice party. Breakfast was fantastic! Pros: Easy, Beautiful, Romantic, Convenient, Luxurious Cons: Only 12 rooms more

What a Beautiful Bed and Breakfast 2/10/2010

The warmth and heauty of the Inn made the trip very special. The hospitality and curteousness we experienced are a refelction of what this place is about! We will be back soon! Pros: beautiful, comfortable beds, private, cozy, romantic Cons: older house more

A Breath of Fresh Air! 8/14/2009

The Inn at Pearl Street is truly a slice of heaven in downtown Austin. The amenities are warm and welcoming, as is the staff. There are several choices of rooms, each with their own historical theme. It is also very quiet and private. A great get away for a weekend or beautiful venue for a wedding. Pros: Beautiful, relaxing, spacious outdoor seating Cons: No restaurant on site more

So surpised! 7/29/2009

I'm sorry to hear about the bride who had such a bad experience. It just makes no sense to me because my husband and I had a WONDERFUL stay at the Inn at Pearl Street. Everything was perfect and Jill was a delightful host. I would hate to have anyone pass up this charming little inn and its hospitality because of one bad review. Pros: ambience, amenities, location, staff Cons: None! more

Don't Get Married Here! 12/26/2007

Although the location downtown is very convenient, and the setting makes for beautiful pictures, I strongly suggest you look somewhere else for your wedding/reception. Planning a wedding can be stressful enough, and attempting to work with the owner of Austin?s Inn at Pearl Street will definitely drive you over the edge!\r Unfortunately, this all fell apart the day of my wedding. The venue fee was to cover the use of the entire first floor of the Inn and Bride & Groom?s changing rooms, along with several other things. When I arrived a few hours before my wedding, I was told by my aunt (I was never approached by Inn staff), that the normal bathroom and the first floor of the Inn were now booked with other guests, and they were not available for my reception (they had mistakenly overbooked the Inn). So, my aunt was forced to give up her private bathroom for all of my guests to use! When she complained, Jill told her that there was no other option!!! When my pastor arrived, he needed to change. Of course, the groom?s changing room was booked as well and not available for my wedding! To top it off, several of my wedding guests (including my mother) said that Jill and her staff were rude to them throughout the evening.\r Services that were promised to me and that I paid for were not available on the day of the event. I was never informed of these mistakes by Inn staff ? I had to find out from family and friends. I was also never compensated for the lack of services. \r There are so many beautiful places in Austin to have a wedding. For the prices these venues charge, a person should not have to put up with rude, unprofessional staff. I would definitely look elsewhere. Pros: location Cons: rude and unprofessional staff more

Brides Beware!! 10/3/2007

I was just at a wedding at the Inn and witnessed the owner yelling at several people in the wedding party. She was rude to the guests of the wedding as well. I heard from the bride that the whole planning process with her was horrific. If you want your wedding to run smoothly, don't have it here. Pros: beautiful venue Cons: terrible service more
