Great spot for breakfast 9/16/2005

Atlas is a great place for breakfast. The restaurant is very roomy so the wait, even on the weekends, is usually minimal. The food is great/ The all season scramble, asparagas, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms and chevre is my personal favorite. One of the best things about Atlas is that it is great for kids. The staff is very patient and the service is quick - avoiding hunger induced melt downs. Atlas is in University Village so, unless there is a Husky game, parking is usually a snap. more

expensive... 8/6/2005

it's pricey for what it is. you'd expect this place to be spectacular due to it's upscale location - u village shopping area, but i can assure you, you won't be wow`d. friendly staff, the food is pretty good (still pricey). parking in the area can be a pain on a fri or sat afternoon. more

Take it or leave it 7/15/2005

While I'm a huge fan of Jitterbug, a sister restaurant, I'm only ok with this place. I haven't been terribly impressed with the food here. I'm a vegetarian so I only eat a few things on the menu, but the options just aren't that great and the atmosphere is a little too sports bar for my taste. more

A sort-of upscale neighborhood diner 6/5/2005

This is a Chow Foods Restaurant, along with the Jitterbug in Wallingford, The Hi-Life in Ballard, the 5-Spot on Queene Anne, Endolyne Joe's in West Seattle, and the Coastal Kitchen on Capitol Hill. The Chow Foods pattern is to create distinct neighborhood restaurants. Atlas Foods is the one in my neighborhood (University Village/Laurelhurst). The best way to describe the Atlas is to say it's a diverse restaurant. It' s a good place to take the kids for Sunday morning breakfast, it's a good place to have a bloody mary (or three) before a Husky Football game, it's a good place to take out-of-town guests who would have a hard time finding a decent breakfast without your help, it's a good place to go late on a Friday night after a movie to discuss over a dozen cups of coffee. The menu is diverse too, the dishes rotate into a new theme every few months or so. The standards stay on the menu all of the time. While I haven't been disappointed in anything on the menu, the crab cakes, fried chicken, mimosas, and scones really stand out. more
