Best

I am surprised by the previous reviews. I go to Atlas every Saturday for brunch and have done so for the last 3 years. It's loud, it's busy, there are kids everywhere, but it's ...

Worst

I felt like this was an overated diner. The prices seemed high and it was drafty and smokey as well as noisy. The service was nice enough, although we waited for our espresso a lo...

Pleasant surprise! 1/1/2003

I find the previous 2 experiences strange. I stopped by Atlas for a quick dinner last week and had a terrific dinner. Thinking we'd just pop in for a quick meal, our server was so charming and entertaining, we ended up ordering wine and staying on through dessert. She really turned our night around. When I asked to speak to the manager (to compliment her on her great staff,) it turned out our server WAS a manager. She was a delight and made an ok evening GREAT! As a former server, I also thought it was nice that management was out there on the floor and accessible. Next time I head back, I'll ASK to be served by a manager! Pros: fun atmosphere, great service, interesting menu Cons: holiday parking? more

i agree... 12/30/2002

So I agree with the last two reviewers...This place is only convenient if you're shopping or live close by, parking is often a drag and it's over priced, overrated and has way too many kids running ALL over the place and way too loud...go to the other locals if you bother to deal with Chow foods at all... Pros: good for shoppin Cons: loud, kids, overpriced more

yeah so.... 12/29/2002

So the last two reviews....I've had hit or miss experiences everytime I go to this place and the only thing that keeps me going in there is the service which is usually friendly but seems a little rough around the edges and the location only because I happen to be in the mall....as for managers, who cares as long as it doesn't affect my visit...but I do have to say I have overheard some interesting but probably inappropriate conversations between people who "appear" to be the bosses... Pros: servers are nice, location Cons: loud, kids, layout of facility more

acme 12/29/2002

This place is so-so...their other places are better all the way around. The location is a convenience only if you are shopping but try parking to eat if the village is busy (viilage..how funny is that). Beyond that, it's really a glorified diner. Imagine paying $9.00 + for a hamburger! This ain't New York folks! As for the service, they're nice but not necessarily polished and management, who cares? They come, they go! It's loud, overrated and mediocre at best. Too many kids too. I pay a babysitter, I don't need to deal with someone elses kids. Pros: well lit, good music, server personalities Cons: pricey, loud, inconvenient more

Go Figure 12/25/2002

My experience at Atlas was SOOO different from the previos reviewer! I also dropped into the bar during the holidays on a Friday night. The bartender took our order and brought our drinks. The "manager on duty"(I'm assuming) brought our food, checked back to see if all was well, brought us another round of drinks and cleared our table. We didn't see the bartender again until he dropped off the check! If it hadn't had been for the manager (who also thanked us on our way out) we wouldn't have gotten any service! more

good bartenders bad leaders 12/23/2002

So we had a drink after shoppin' at the "mall" ...Ryan and Jeremy were awesome...but the manager on duty needs a lesson in supporting their staff...it was intrusive on my "drinking space" and unprofessional...nag after the customers are gone lady! The food was ok not great and a little pricy too...I'd go back for the drinks but nothing else Pros: bartenders Cons: loud, management, location more

Yum!! 11/24/2002

Atlas is my new favorite brunch spot. I had the best experience there last sunday! The wait was small, my server was great, and the food was awesome! What else could you want? I'm looking forward to many more brunches at Atlas! Pros: Big Portions, Great Service, Plentiful Coffee Cons: loud, Loud, LOUD! more

Definitely,worth the wait 11/7/2002

I spend every sunday morning at Atlas! Yes the wait may be long, but the hostess is always sweet, fun & honest about what the wait will be. And once I'm seated I find it well worth the wait: The bloody Mary's are spicy enough to dig you out of any hangover and I can't go too long without their corned beef hash. The service is fast and fun, absent of the snottiness of Coastal Kitchen & 5-Spot...I'm a little shocked by the previous review: I had an exceptionally long wait and the manager came to talk to my party. I found her to be pleasant and solicitous. I may have to wait, but I never miss my sundays at Atlas. Pros: parking, service, food Cons: wait, noise more

too long, too long 10/28/2002

So...Atlas is nothin' like those other places....the service was good and when I finally got my food it was good...but I have had one too many loooonnnggg waits for food....when I came in on a Sunday it took about 45 minutes for eggs!!! Granted, it was busy...the hostess was overwhelmed (how about more support staff people...) and obviously the kitchen couldn't handle it and it was exacerbated by the front deak or so it appeared to me...either way...I won't be back and if you're in a hurry...don't go here....if you have hours to kill...it's your kind of place...oh, and try to avoid the loud, heavy set brunette with the viscious laugh...she's abrupt and rather unfriendly and says stuff to her staff that'd be best left till there's no paying customers around... Pros: servers, food Cons: wait time, manager?, location more

reign in rosemary 7/20/2002

I want to say I just got home from the most wonderful dinner I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy. AND the wonderful waitstaff allowed me to eat with my parrot Cocoa. I had the Chicken Jumblies and Cocoa had a caalmari appetizer. For desert I had a decadent chocolate mousse with m&m's sprinkled on top. The food is wonderful and the price is good! more

Viva Mexico! 6/20/2002

I stopped in to Atlas after a rough day of shopping at the U Village. I was excited to find that they had jumped the rotating food festival bandwagon ( a la 5 Spot & Coastal.) I took a seat on the (new) patio and ate to my heart's delight. The Ensalada Camarones de blah blah blah was so good, fried plantains-YUM!!! My server got me to try a new wine (she even gave me a taste before I ordered), a tempranillo, that was not only delicious, but CHEAP! For dessert, I had amazing, homemade Strawberry sorbet! My server was adorable, sweet, and knowledgeable, but stretched very thin for the busy patio seating. All in all it was a lovely night, and I can't wait to head back and try a Prickly Pear Margarita?! Pros: Fun Service, Patio, PARKING!!! Cons: Mall Crowd more
