I would like to complain regarding service I had at the Havoline X-Press Lube location at 1953, Howell Mill Rd, Atlanta, GA. I went there last month for a cold engine start issue....

Editorial review from Citysearch 3/19/2014

I went in to the store located off Howell Mill Rd in Atlanta and had the worst experience of my life. When I pulled up I was greeted by a woman and I explained that I needed an oil change and I only wanted to use Havoline brand 10W-30 oil. She informed me they only had high mileage 10W-30 havoline oil which would cost me $49. I agreed to the price and went inside the store. I watched as they started to service my car and when the guy working on the car went to put oil back into the car he grabbed the regular 5W-30 oil. I immediately went up to the receptionist and told her he was using the wrong oil. She opened the window and yelled out to him to use the correct oil. He drained my car and about 20 minutes later, he grabbed the wrong oil again, he started to pump in 5W-30 High mileage oil, once again I informed her it was the wrong oil. I specifically asked for Havoline brand 10W-30. She opened the window and yelled 10w-30. Another 20 minutes go by and I seem the guy pull out 10W-30 Gulf port brand and started to pour in the tank. At that point I requested a manager, and she came inside and said they only had that brand and that they would have to have someone deliver the havoline 10W-30 from their distributor down the street, which should only take a few mintues and it would cost $29, but since it was ladie's day $19. I agreed to wait, and 30 minutes later they arrived with the oil. The manager showed me the bottle and it was the correct oil this time and she poured it into the tank. I walk back inside to pay and the receptionist told me it would be $54.00. I informed her that the manager told me it would be $19.00, she argued with me over the price and yelled out to one of the technicians and she came in and informed me since I requested ""special"" oil for my ""special"" car that it would cost $54. I informed her I was told at the beginning of my visit they had the correct oil, which they did not, and that it would only be 10 minutes, which ended up being well over an hour waiting, and that it would cost me $19 for regular 10W-30 havoline oil, which now was $54! I told her I refuse to pay that amount and I would pay the $19. After another 5 minutes of back and fourth she agreed and ran my card for $19. This was the biggest inconvenience I have ever experienced trying to get a quick oil change. The employees were rude and tried to take advantage of me because I am a woman. I know about cars and different types of oil and would not let them rip me off. I will be sure to report this situation to BBB and also post my review on every website I can find. This is unacceptable and I should not have been charged at all. more

Service complaint 2/22/2012

I would like to complain regarding service I had at the Havoline X-Press Lube location at 1953, Howell Mill Rd, Atlanta, GA. I went there last month for a cold engine start issue. Technician diagnosed that issue was due to brakes malfunctioning and needing replacement. After changing the brakes which cost me $300, the cold engine start issue was still not fixed. I had to take the car again to another repair facility (Firestone) which identified the issue being with the Power steering system which was leaking and needed to be replaced. Issue was fixed after this repair. I called then Havoline Xpress Lube to let them know about the false diagnosis and they denied any wrong doing pretexting that I was the one asking for the brakes to be changed. This was very poor customer service and a really disappointing response from the team there. I definitely don't recommend this location for any repair as they lack honesty and integrity. more

What a shame... 11/22/2010

Barry and I talked a few days before i came in for service...i needed an engine flush and to have my CEL reset afterwards. Barry was as nice as can be on the phone and when i came in, he greeted me (along with his staff), very nicely. And then that stopped. They finished up the service ($150 for an upgraded oil change which i didnt really mind and an engine flush). Knowing a bit about cars, i knew that once this was done and the CEL was reset, id need to drive a bit before getting emissions. Well, one of his techs walks in and says ""Your CEL is saying you have an EVAP problem, that has to do with your air filter and fuel system, we can do both, and we'll knock some cash off..."" (about $100 more than i had already paid. I declined the extra service saying i could do both myself...He told Barry who gave a sneer and just walked away. After i left i went home, and having no faith in their honesty, i reset the CEL myself by disconnecting the battery...i drove it about 100 miles over the next 2 days and went and passed my emissions without a hitch. Why would you lie to your customer? Cause them more headache and try to take more money when their car is perfectly fine after the service they were happy to pay for initially? What a shame, i deff would not recommend them, and just laugh at the pitiful attempt to take advantage of someone who knew more than they thought. I hope this helps others, this place is a joke. more

RIP OFF 10/23/2009

They pulled the same thing on me that i've seen in other reviews - showed me really dirty air filters and then offered to change them at a discounted price for cash. These guys are not honest. Cons: this place is really shady more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS--Forced to bring suit in Fulton Co. Court for fraud 4/3/2007

This was one of the most incredulous acts of blatant dishonesty I've ever encountered. Went in to have my brake pads changed in 9/05. Sat around for nearly five hours and was repeatedly assured the pads were on the way. When I complained for the third time, I was told the car was ready to go. Absurdly overpriced ($150). Cons: Dishonesty; rudeness; overpriced; bullying tactics more
