I Love The Colonial Theatre 11/8/2010

The Colonial is a charming and beautiful, funky and independent theater in downtown Phoenixville. If you love variety in films (not just what every other theater showing), if you love classics or horror or indie or foreign films...you will love The Colonial. Besides the fabulous historical building and selection of films, there's another important thing I love about this theater. At other theaters, the unbelievable volume overwhelms me. I also hate the endless tacky previews for films I'd never want to see. At The Colonial, neither of these are issues I have to worry about. The volume is just right, pre-film ads are for local businesses, and any previews are both briefer and classier than at typical theaters. I love The Colonial Theatre! more

Charming and elegant 2/26/2003

As an European artist, I found this theater to be quite charming and elegant in its colonial architecture, clean image and sound and great selection of movies. If you like real cinematography, real themes that challenge your view of life, and don't want to feel like you're one of the thousands of dummies who go to King of Prussia to see films like Legally Blonde or similar ""rackets"", then go and check out this elegant theatre with the best selection of independent and world cinema. I suggest you give them a call first, since the showtimes given here are not always the same as those of the theater. more
