Best

I've gone to Asia Roma many times. The food is always good and the staff is always fiendly and attentive. One of the best places in the neighborhood for sure. Highly recommended. ...

Worst

Excellent for first timers who enjoy karaoke and for friends bringing first timers. Pros: inexpensive, easy to reserve, karaoke cheap Cons: food is eh, chance to sing less

Good food and friendly atmosphere 12/22/2006

I recently had a get together at this restaurant and felt compelled to share my satisfaction with my overall experience. Its a cozy place that I hope is around when I visit New York again. The servers were attentive and the food was prompt and quick. The karoake room was fun. I'm glad my friends and I discovered it. I would recommend to anyone. more

Guranteed Great 12/12/2006

Asia Roma is one of the best places I ever ever been in the city. We had a holiday work party there and everyone had a wonderful night. The food was incredible and the service was incredibly attentive all night long. The owner, Mei, is totally awesome, really cool, and came over herself to check on us throughout the night. The karaoke ROCKS! They have a huge selection and an kickass room. The regulars are way cool and friendly also. Some incredible singers too. Very reasonable overall considering the calibre of food you enjoy and the top notch service. Highly recomended to anyone looking for a great night out or a sublime dining experience. more

Best Hostess - Mei & Angel 12/12/2006

I love Asia Roma! Mei & Angel top all other hosts and the food is excellent to boot. The best place for a karaoke party. Love the downstairs, upstairs there's a nice cozy bar & you can always meet a good lawyer. Pros: Excellent Ambiance, food Cons: closed sometimes. more

The food is great, the ambiance is cool, defnitely a classic, hot LES spot. 12/12/2006

I definitely like this place. I always come through with dates all the time. It's a cool LES spot, its got a lot of NYC style, and its always got great people. Pros: good times Cons: LES is a bit gloomey more

Hip Atmosphere 12/7/2006

This place is the real deal! The true New Yorkers know to come to this downtown fixture in the old Five Points hood on Mulberry Bend. A cool mix of chinatown chicks, lower east side hipsters, karaoke kids and the crew from the NY State Supreme Court (think Law & Order) right next door are all in attendence for this non-stop party. The awesome Italian cuisine is delicioso so you can keep up your strength for lots of singing and swaying to the crooners. The service is always cheerful and the bar is definitely the place for some exceptional NY people-watching. Don't miss this genuine gem - and bring your appetite. Pros: Ambience, Entertainment, Food Cons: Parking more

Great Place, great service, great food. 12/4/2006

Loved it! Always have a good time there, nice ambience, food is Pros: ambience, service more

Pleasure 12/2/2006

Just as music accentuates a film but doesn't detract from the whole, so is the atmosphere of this fine restaurant. Between the attentive service, diverse menu and food which excels the dining pleasure is complete. A great meal is one of the few rewards in life and Asia Roma delivers! Thank you!!! more

Great little niche restaurant/bar! 11/11/2006

My friends and I happened to stumble upon this place one night and we were pleasantly surprised. The service was great and the menu had a nice variety of dishes and was not pretentious in the way that "asian fusion" restaurants tend to be. We got sauced on drinks from the bar (I highly recommend that leechee martini!) and then went downstairs for karaoke! This is a nice, cozy little place that I absolutely recommend checking out. Pros: great atmosphere, cozy Cons: stairs to karaoke room not good after too many drinks more

Nice Drinks, good menu 11/5/2006

Awesome little place on Mulberry Street. Everything I have tried off the menu has been great, but I go for the drinks more than anything. They have a good little drink menu (litchee martini is awesome), the ambiance is nice and cozy, and the location is conveniently close to the Canal Street Station. A great place for after work drinks. Pros: Good drinks, good food, nice ambiance Cons: Parking (and driving) in the area is difficult more

Great Customer Service ! 10/18/2006

I always have a very enjoyable time here. The food is is wonderful, service is great. I never had a bad dinner here. I look forward to their daily specials. Sometimes I request for a special they had before and they will make it for me. I meet up with my friends here often. Sometimes we just have drinks. These bartenders really know how to pour them ! This has become a place I go to when I feel like just hanging around. But the karaoke from downstairs can get a little annoying sometimes. Pros: Fresh food, generous size portions on food and drinks Cons: grabbing a bar seat on a busy night more

Number One Restaurant in Chinatown! 10/16/2006

Asia Roma is an affordable spot to meet, relax, and party, while dining on something far different than the regular Chinatown fare. During the day, I like it for business meetings. Judges and attorneys from the nearby courthouses sit in their spruced-up main room, while sun pours in through the front window. At night, the restaurant fills up with the after-work crowd, as Chinatown political types sit in the back. Late in the night, folks start burning up the stage with the karaoke machine in the party room downstairs. Pros: Cozy place, friendly service. Cons: None. more

WE WERE WELL SERVED ! 10/15/2006

We just love this place. just decided to book another christmas party here, 3rd year in a row. food is great, service attentive, AND THE PRICES HAS NOT GONE UP ! food is always fresh and you can tell it's cooked to order (not sitting around at room temperature) Great value for your money. We always have a very enjoyable time. Pros: GREAT VALUE, WARM AMBIENCE, NICE STAFF Cons: CABBIES CAN'T FIND IT more

A Pending Failure! 9/29/2006

I think the biggest problem with this place is their system of serving. With one chef and a bad serving system, as the waiter told me at the end of the night, the chef completes everything for a table before he starts working on the next table. That means that if you end up walking in after 2 or 3 other groups, you have to wait until each of those other groups have gotten everything from appetizers to dessert before you even see your bread basket. Also, the chef has no help, so they can't serve more than 2 or 3 people food at the same time. Leading to my experience below: I went there with a group of friends and family for a dinner. I should have read the previous user reviews, because my experience was very similar to a few already written. After waiting half an hour, we finally got the waiter/bartender's attention to order (the only guy serving the bar AND tables initially). My friend also had to request twice for two beers before we got them. It took us 45 minutes to get our appetizers. We were sitting there for a long time, starving for food. Just as we were starting to receive appetizers (75 minutes in), we ended up getting a bread basket on the table, which should have been there from the very beginning. Two of the appetizers didn't come out, so we just figured he didn't hear them and we just wrote them off. Finally, 30 more minutes later (a total of 105 minutes) we started getting our entrees. We initially decided not to start eating until everyone got their food, but we gave up on that idea after plates came out one by one every 5 minutes. It took 30 minutes between the first and last plate to come out (125 minutes from when we sat down). Then those last two appetizers? Out they came in the middle of the entrees. We told the waiter we didn't want them anymore, but he just said that it was ordered and refused to take it back. It was a disaster from the beginning. The food was ok and definitely didn't compensate for the horrible service. Pros: None. Cons: Rude service, long wait for food. more

Fun Time Karaoke! 9/6/2006

Saw this on Citysearch so I went with a few friends. We sang our hearts out to some classic tunes and had an awesome time. The people we met at Asia Roma were very friendly and the food(Asian & Italian selections) upstairs was very good as well. Glad we found it! Pros: Karaoke, Sevice more

PLACE TO CHILL !! 9/6/2006

love this place. you can sing when you want or just hang around the bar. there's no room charges like some other places so you can just hang around as long as you like. We really went the first time for karaoke, but to our surprise, the food was very good. We enjoyed it and we've been going back. it was fun watching other people sing too. Pros: friendly, casual, good menu Cons: can get too crowded more

I'll go roma somewhere else... 8/29/2006

For karaoke, it really shouldn't be like this. Asia Roma has a terrible selection & only two microphones. Also, it's such a small space that you can't escape the howlings of the drunks at the microphone. Not recommended - at all. Pros: Nothing Cons: Small space, terrible song selection, very crowded more

yOU gOTTA lIKE IT !! 8/17/2006

this place grows on you. been here a few times after a great party we had there. find myself coming here on a nights we feel like hanging out. the food is always good ! one of the things I enjoy here. and the karaoke !! as corny as it seems, but it's great fun ! staff remembers you and greets you like a regular. and most of all... the drinks are HALF of what you pay elsewhere. can't go wrong here. sometimes gets really busy on weekends. there's always a lot of parties there. Pros: food, reasonal prices, nice new decor Cons: slightly off path more

Not the best Karaoke Experience! 7/9/2006

The food was ok. More Roma than Asia. The karaoke was very very very outdated. It is not the place if you want to sing anything remotely current- strictly 2003 and earlier. Some of the tunes were labeled incorrectly as well. The service was good and there is some interesting artwork hanging on the walls- lots of floating fruit... Pros: Those paintings Cons: outdated karaoke selection more

I simply loved it. 6/2/2006

I've been visiting Asia Roma regularly, and finally decided to write a review for it. What can I say about this place; great food, great service, great karaoke. The karaoke system may seem a tad outdated. But boy, do I really sound like a star when I'm in Asia Roma. Pros: Nice lil friendly place. Cons: Tacky decor. more

Italian????? 5/3/2006

I Jumped off the bridge on this one. I decied to try thier Italian Food and was very disapointed. I should have just bought a jar of sauce and some dried pasta. I would have been happier. Maybe the chinese food was better but I did not see anything on the main menu. The place was a bit loud as well because of the Karoke in the Basement. Oh well you live and learn. Pros: Nice Waiters Cons: Food not Great, Loud!!, Dark more
