Best Sushi place from Daytona to Orlando 11/2/2011

First impression, little mom and pop sushi place, not the best decor..a little aged but comfortable and clean. Greeted by very nice servers.. you must try the soup, it's the best clear soup with mushrooms and crunchy green onions.. YUM!! also, with 2 rolls you get free soup and salad.. The chefs are amazing, very talented and clean. Since finding this place a few months ago I visit at least twice a week, sometimes more. I've tried every other sushi place I can find from Daytona to Orlando..none come close to Asahi for quality of food, price, or friendly staff...This is a must try place. Love it!! more

Hysterical sushi chefs 10/26/2008

They have great sushi! They're sushi chefs are hysterically funny, if you get to know them and become regulars. The skinnier one is hillarious-his jokes can be misconstrued but you have to have a big sense of humor to laugh along with him. You can't take everything he says seriously. The service is good, not as chatty as they use to be. But-overall, food is still great! Can't wait to go back and eat there. Pros: Family owned business and great sushi Cons: not so chatty servers more

Better than the big sushi places 8/21/2008

I LOVE this Sushi bar and go there about twice a month with my husband. When a big trendy sushi place opened by our office in Heathrow, we tried that a few times but the sushi here is generally better. On occasion they've let the seaweed get damp (and hence a bit chewy) but usually it is fantastic. Sit at the sushi bar if you can. If you order two rolls you also get soup and a salad.\r \r My favorites are the Oceans Eleven roll (a yummy raninbow roll) though the Candy Cane is another lighter version of the same and their California rolls, which replace the usual cucumber with roe.\r \r The staff is courteous but not overly chatty. The sushi chefs warm up to you if you're a regular but are otherwise somewhat reserved and quiet.\r Pros: Good sushi, reasonable prices Cons: frequently crowded with noisy kids. more

deranged sushi chef 3/6/2008

We visited this restaurant at least 6 times and decided not to go back. We always sit at the sushi bar , even if the place is empty the wait is still 45 - 1 1/2 hour before getting served. The worst part is, the sushi chef must be mentally deranged, he was rude all the time and would throw things against the wall such as pen that didnt work. He always had a grouchy demeanor and when we asked how much loger is the wait, he pulled out our sushi order and threw it out - and said come back at 9:30 PM, meanwhile we were already waiting for over hour at the sushi bar. So, NO thank you .. I would rather go to a place where my business will be appreciated. Pros: the sushi is average quality but the menu is limited Cons: Service is poor, the sushi chef often expressed a demeanor of mentally unstable person more
