Arts Center Tower

Designed by Richard Meier, the High was named one of the 10 best works of American architecture of the 1980s by the American Institute of Architects. The museum houses a growing collection of contemporary art, a wonderful decorative arts section, beautiful 19th Century landscape paintings, five centuries of European painting and sculpture, as well as African masks and ceremonial figures. World-class exhibitions come to the High, which is often the only Southeastern stop on national tours. Past exhibits have included works by Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso, Degas, Toulouse-Lautrec, Rockwell, Michelangelo and other giants in art history. Don't miss: the woman sitting in the chair exhibit, the Member's Guild at the High and/or the Photography and Folk Art galleries at GA-Pacific. Hint: On the first Saturday of each month, Fulton County residents receive free admission. Just present your ZIP code and proof of residence at box office between 10am and noon on that Saturday. We saw a taping of "Blue Collar TV" here. The staff is excellent, parking abundant, and the decor is beautiful. Snack bars are plentiful, bathrooms are easy to access, and there is even an ATM in the lobby. Make sure you get there early enough to park, and that you arrive with enough time to spare, regardless of whatever performance you are attending. more

You will not be disappointed in the Woodruff Arts Center. Very professional staff and volunteers, an elegant interior and attractive exterior make this the place to go for a great show. Parking can be tough but the Center is within walking distance of Marta. I have enjoyed all of the performances at Woodruff and can't say anything bad about it. more

This is one of Atlanta's features in the arts world. Woodruff regularly hosts concerts by the Atlanta Symphony orchestra and other as well as tremendous art exhibitions. As with most places downtown, it can be a little hard to find parking. You will probably want to take MARTA and walk. It is super easy to find and a really nice place. The also host many civic events throughout the year. Check out their calendar because Woodruff always has something interesting going on. Whether you have been there 100 times before or never. Check it out. more
