A Perfect Day 2/17/2011

What a gem in the middle of the desert. Just the drive to it is worth the price of admission. Bring a hat and a good pair of walking shoes and you will be in for a day of fun. I really enjoyed the otter, could have watched him play all day. Of course there are many things to see and do, grab a map and explore. Something for the whole family. more

Wonderful Family Event! 10/5/2009

I am an amateur photographer and was thrilled to have the big cats perform so willingly for me on my last visit. I was able to get some exquisite shots of two of the big cats. The male performed for me for nearly 20 minutes & I will send along the pics. Wonderful experience!! Pros: So much to see and Photograph Cons: Hot in Summer more

Not a Zoo 8/26/2002

I used that title for two reasons - it is not a zoo, in that you won't find the hustle/bustle of a traditional zoo. But, it does contain the animal life of the local desert. I find the winding pathways fun, and that the anmals are kept in an environment that closely resembles the native habitat of the animals. The new Coyote and Peccary pens are a great idea; part of the fun is trying to find these animals. My kids enjoy digging out the faux dinosaur bones as well. It is perfect for people who are new to the desert environment. Pros: educational, gift shop more

whatawaytospendaday! 7/26/2002

The Sonoran Desert is such a beautiful place, and this attraction is a favorite for locals and tourists alike. When I lived in Tucson I made the outing a minimum of once a month with my family. Now it is a place I very much enjoy taking others to when in the area. It is the best of everything: dramatic flora and fauna, amazing natural history, entertaining native animals. Don't miss this! Pros: family fun, reasonably priced, drive there is A+ Cons: summer is HOT more

Lovely Stroll for Perfect Views 7/23/2002

Unique Desert Exhibits 7/22/2002

This site is worth your time and money. The Desert Museum is easy to find and the landscape is beautiful. It will entertain and educate you about the various animals, birds and plants of the sonoran desert region. All exhibits are up close and some you can walk right inside. The best time to go is early morning when the animals are more active. Plan on spending at least two hours. Pros: Animals, Plants, Landscape more
