Amazing and magnificent collection of artifacts wonderfully displayed in a way that lets the viewer imagine what they will about the people and conditions of a bygone era. This museum is not like any other and one that will not easily be forgotten by those who go to see it. It is well worth visiting there! more

Fun for all ages! 7/14/2006

The Arabia Steamboat was one of 400 steamboats that sank due to the rough conditions on the Missouri River back in the 1800s and was rediscovered in 1988 --- with it's 222 tons of cargo intact! Here at the museum, you will view everything from china, glassware, tools, clothing and boots - even perfume and a childs doll! Amazingly, they also have the giant 28-foot paddlewheel on display turning in a pool of water. I first visited the Arabia Steamboat museum, located in Kansas City's River Market area, with my Mom, Grandpa, and 2-year-old daughter in 1992. Through the years, some of my children have also had the opportunity to visit while on elementary school field trips! It's definitely a fun place for all ages! Discount tickets can often be found in the Entertainment Book. For more information, check out this http://www.1856.com/ ! :) more

Interesting 12/22/2005

This is someplace that everyone in KC should try at least once. It is the museum of a sunk steamboat that was discovered and many of the artifacts were brought up from the river. They are all on display to look at. There are many items as well as personal items. There is an interesting film at the beginning that tells you how they discovered it and how they brought everything up from the bottom of the river. I would recommend, very interesting! more

Great museum for a good price. 8/6/2005

This is a museum that shows off a great midwest find, the steamboat arabia. This steamboat was searched for high and low, until it was found in a farmers corn field. Many treasures were found and millions of dollars made, by the men and women who put in countless hours to recover his 1800's boat. The guides at the museum are very informed in the facts and figures of this beautiful boat and its treasures. more

Steamboat Arabia Museum 7/14/2005

This is an interesting museum in Kansas City, Mo, especially for kids. The steamboat Arabia was a boat that sank in the Missouri River in the 1800's and in the 1980's, it was dug up and they put a lot of the things they found in the boat in a museum. They even have the remains of the only thing that die when the boat sank, and that's a mule. They have tours that show you around, and there's a gift shop of course and a food court, Out back of the museum is the City Market, with all kinds of ethnic foods. This is a good field trip for elementary students, or for all ages! more
