all you can eat sushi 8/16/2005

If you're looking for an all you can eat sushi restaurant, check out Aoi. A small, not-to-trendy restaurant, Aoi sits almost in the middle of downtown Philadelphia. Keep in mind that they only have this "special" during a certain time window at night (which i dont remember off hand), so make sure you know when that is before you go. At an affordable price ($20-25) you can fill yourself on pieces of sushi, sashimi and nigiri. Also, you're only allowed a certain amount of points at a time, so choose wisely. Finally, their sushi might not be the best, but if you're going to stuff your face full of it, go to Aoi. more

For Sushi lovers 7/8/2005

Aoi's is the place to be if you are a sushi lover and just can't have enough of it. I have been visiting this place regularly in my last 6 months in philadelphia. It has one of the best japanese food you can find around phili. Also the place has very friendly people and you always feel at home in this restaurant. If you want to try anything other than sushi then Teriyaki is another special at Aoi's. Not to forget the $20 sushi buffet. more

Quite overrated by many people 6/23/2005

Aoi is known for its sushi special: soup, salad annd all-you-can-eat sushi for $20. In a nice restaurant such as Aoi, this is a very good price and that is why people generally like it. There's a selection of maki, nigiri and temaki that you can order by a point system, which is a lot better than many other restaurants. But what I don't understand is how people overlook what they are actually eating. Even though the fish is of good quality, the sushi is so overstuffed with rice that you can barely taste their quality fish. On top of that, the slices of fish that they have inside the sushi are tiny; and they get tinier as you order more... Oh, and you cannot leave anything on your plate. You cannot get away with sparing some of the rice unless you go to the bathroom to spit it out... This place will actually charge you a la carte for whatever you cannot eat. The price may sound good, but you'll really be better off somewhere else with a pot of rice and a small plate of sashimi... more
