Good food but to expensive for this economy 1/3/2009

We went here with another couple and had a great time. The service is great and the place is nice, but at times a little to much going on. I like it because it is not corporate and you feel that it is more family style. I guess it is owned by one man that has owned it for many years. I have been here once before about 4 years ago and it is pretty much the same. I don't reccoment ordering the steak or steak specials they have. Rib eye is my favorite steak and the one I was served here was very tough. I should have stuck to Italian food. My wife had raviolis and they were homemade tasting which was nice for a change. The bar area was very small and not much to offer there. No reason to get there early for a pre dinner drink like we enjoy doing befor dinner. We actually went for an after dinner drink at Mortons which is right next door. Overall we will not be back until things get better with the economy this place is way over priced for what you get. The quality is not in the meat thats for sure. Pros: Beautiful restaurant centrally located Cons: to expensive more

Could be better 12/27/2008

For the price, it could be better. Decor is nice, service is so-so. Perhaps a group of prom-going high schoolers doesn't tickle their fancy. Large portions but better could be found elsewhere. more

delicious Italian 11/5/2008

I went there for a catered dinner and I think we were in a room separate from the regular restaurant. My only impression of the actual restaurant was alot of little rooms with tables in them on the way to the restroom. The food however, was delicious, I must say it beats Maggianos for taste and authenticity. more

Great Food and Service 10/17/2008

My fiance and I went here for the first time together. She is a big italian food fan and she loved this place. more

Noisy 9/21/2008

Great vibe;but busier later;food is superb with wonderful daily specials; the boys up front are always pleasant even if you're a "nobody"! Can be noisy...but that's part of the vibe. more

A Dining Experience Like No Other 3/2/2003

Service starts with a voice on the other end of the phone. That voice was Sarah, a highly professional and hospitable hostess. Our tableside service (provided by Carlos) was second to none. His passion for providing an ultimate dining experience is seen in his every movement, his diction, and his smile! The ambiance of this exquisit restaurant was unforgettable! Entering into the dining area fills you with visual delights including the works of Aldo Luongo. Lighting is perfectly set, with tasetful instrumental music playing in the background. The talents of Chef Franco Barone gave Italian dining a new name in both authenticity and creativity. The last word in this evening of fine gastronomic adventure was Grand Marnier Soufle...never to be forgotten! From the moment we pulled into the valet area, to our departure of the porte cache, we were nothing less than thrilled with our visit at Antonello's! Pros: Service, Ambiance, Food and Beverage Cons: Leaving more

A Night in Italy 1/31/2003

This was truly a wonderful dining experience. The combination of great food, service, and ambience made the night a fantasy. I felt as if I was in Italy without ever having to leave the county! This is a restaurant that I will definetely return to with friends and family. more

Simply the Best 8/20/2002

Antonello has been one of my favorites for years. They are simply the best restaurant in OC for both their food and service. Their prices have risen over the last year such that you could easily spend over $100 for two and still ordering wine by the glass. Add a bottle and you are looking at an easy $200 for two. However, save your money because it is worth it. You will spend a delightful evening there (an easy three hours or so) in a relaxed atmosphere and feel compelled to refer all of your friends and anyone else you meet. It is that good. We even had our wedding reception there. Be sure to ask Thad about their ability to host special events. They will master any event down to the smallest detail~they made us a tiramisu three-tiered wedding cake! They are the best! Pros: excellent service, never rushed, outstanding food Cons: very pricey wine list, pricey food more

  • In Bistagno, a little town deep in Italy's wine region, owner and chef Antonio Cagnolo was born and raised on a small town farm and mill. "Everything was fresh. The vegetables were from our garden, the eggs from our chickens, and my father hunted and fished. We had fresh truffles and porcini mushrooms. I even stomped the grapes to make the wine!" Since his humble beginnings in Italy, Antonio Cagnolo has emerged as a dynamic force in the field of dining. He has earned national acclaim for the award-winning Italian cuisine served at his venerable Antonello Ristorante and has been the recipient of the prestigious Circle of Fame Awards, Golden Scepter Award and was named "Restaurateur of the Year" by the Southern California Restaurant Writers.
