One of my favorite restaurants in San Diego 7/14/2010

I absolutely love Anthony's. In my opinion they have some of the best fish tacos in San Diego. Every time I come to San Diego on business or vacation I always make it a point to stop their. more

Deeelicious 6/12/2006

I have to admit, when my friend and I visited San Diego, we walked past this restaurant several times and made fun of the name. Finally we decided that since we spent so much time commentating on it, we should just eat there. Wow, we were impressed. First off, the view of the San Diego waterfront at night was gorgeous. And the food was truly excellent. They have these combination platters where you get three kinds of seafood, two sides, bread and salad for around 20 bucks, and it was fabulous. And trust me, I'm from Baltimore...I know my seafood! more

Anthony's Fish Grotto 4/12/2006

Anthony's restaurant is located right by the ocean shore in the wonderful San Diego. Mainly serving seafood, it is extremely fresh and delightful to eat. Nothing beats fresh seafood knowing that it was caught that same morning right in the waters next to where you're eating. Although it is very pricey with a lobster tail running you a good $40, it is absolutely amazing. This restaurant puts Red Lobster to shame. more

Bad service 4/12/2006

I've only been here once, but I did not enjoy my experience. I ordered food to go and called it in. first of all, when I got there, i couldn't even figure out where the take out pick up line was. Also, they completely messed up my order and I had to wait while they corrected it. The clam chowder I found to be very watery and not very good at all. The rest of my food was decent, but I think it was overpriced. This place tends to be busy, probably because it is on the harbor. more

good family fun 11/1/2005

I felt that anthony's offered a great menu and good service. The food was great and the service was fantastic. I would definitely recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal and menu for even the pickiest of eaters. Bring the whole family and they will all be satisfied and full. more

There's also one on Clairemont Mesa which is also pretty good. I only had their fish and chips before. They're pretty good...not much different than other restaurants. It's really filling though, neither of us could finish that plate. i loved their variety of sauces the best. If you feel guilty afterwards, LA Fitness is right behind it. more

Great Seafood 8/11/2005

Anthony's Fish Grotto is right on the water, north of Seaport Village on Harbor Drive. A bit pricey, but well worth it. The seafood is fresh and excellently prepared. Can buy I get that sun dried tomato butter spread in bulk? Calling ahead for a reservation, especially on the weekends, can save you a long and tantalizing wait. more

Editorial

  • In Short
Panoramic views of San Diego Bay procure fresh-catch cravings at this long established waterfront eatery. An all encompassing coastal atmosphere, the dining room extends over the water's edge and bayside windows add to guests' enjoyment of seafood favorites. Weather permitting, dine on the patio; salty air pairs nicely with a steaming cup of chowder, a range of fish-fry items or fusion specialties such as the crispy California roll with avocado, crab and crispy panko crust.
