I thought it was strange when they quoted me $10 to hem a $20 dress, but I was in a hurry when I dropped it off so I figured I'd ask about it when I picked up the dress. When I asked about the price and showed them that the price list on their counter said $5 for hemming dresses, the list of excuses were as follows:\r \r 1) oh it's a formal dress, formal dresses are $10 (as she pulled this mysterious handwritten price list out from under the counter that had higher prices on it)\r -my dress was a $20 cotton dress from Target - definitely not a formal dress\r \r 2) oh the price sheet has a range starting at $5\r - the price sheet has a flat rate of $5 for hemming unlined dresses (my dress was an unlined dress)\r \r 3) oh it's a stretchy fabric so it's harder to hem\r - it's a cotton dress, and if it were correctly hemmed for a stretchy fabric, they would have used a zig zag stitch but they just hemmed it with a straight stitch\r \r At that point I was too tired to argue it anymore, so I just paid the $10 and left but I'm not going back. Nothing upsets me more than people who don't honor their listed prices and try to give me some shady run around about it. If you're gonna charge $10 for a service, advertise it as $10.\r \r AND another thing: when I first came in I heard her talking to her dad about the prices for another customer in Vietnamese (most people don't know I understand Vietnamese because my last name is Japanese). Their conversation went like this:\r \r girl: ""dad, how much for the purple suede jacket?""\r dad: ""$30 is ok""\r girl: ""i think $40-$45""\r dad: ""ok $35""\r girl: ""$40?""\r dad: ""fine whatever""\r \r And then girl went and quoted the customer $42 for the alteration but when the customer didn't respond well to it, she said ""$40 is ok too"". I know everybody has to make a living, but come on!\r Cons: location, service more
