Update on Sophie ~ Cocker Spaniel w/ Liver Disease 1/5/2009

Just a quick update... The AAAH has continued to amaze me with accurate knowledge & care...Dr. Figura has done it again, Right before christmas, I took Sophie ( my 3 year old cocker spaniel who has liver disease) in for a brief exam and refill of med's... it was suggested since it had been 6 months since her last blood work was done, we should get a update... Much to my fear the results would be bad news, I agreed... As time ticked away for a few long days, my heart dropped every time the phone rang... Finally at 4:00pm, it was time to hear the news........... Dr. Figura said w/ excitement, and a pep in her tone, that Sophie's results came back looking GREAT ! You have no idea what a great christmas present that was for me... Everything AAAH, Dr Figura, myself & Sophie have done has paid off ! Thank you Thank you Thank you... Best Wishes to everyone in 2009 more

Friends 1/5/2009

I just reads some of the online reviews and felt after the 6 years of caring service you have given us, we should speak up to some of the hotheads'comments. From putting Carly to sleep, saving Maddie's little knee, helping big Millie get the most out of her last years and helping us through the end, to getting Tucker off to a good start--you have ALWAYS been there for us. Will Rogers said for his money the best Dr. was a vet. "they can't ask the patient what's wrong, he (she) just has to know!" And, I think all of you live up to that standard. Thanks ever so much, Don & Vicki more

Top quality 12/8/2008

I have gone there for emergencies and for routine work and have always been satisfied. They are a very large practice - maybe 10 vets and open 24/7. They have excellent equipment and complete surgical facilities. Like most vets they farm out their lab tests, although they can do much of it in-house if urgent. Unlike most vets they don't schedule appointments - which has its good and bad effects (they will definitely move you to the front of the line for urgent cases). more

Liver Disease 12/4/2008

The AAAH is outstanding. I have a 3 year old cocker spaniel Sophie ~my best friend. 6 months ago she took a negative turn without warning. Sophie has liver disease, I didn't think she would pull thru, AAAH has spent hours/days/weeks/months being there for us for everything. Sophie is now on med's & doing great, you wouldn't even know she has liver disease. I am truly greatful for AAHA. They didn't give up on my best friend or me... If you love your best friend, stop in @ AAHA... more

Extremely rude and uncaring 10/5/2007

My new kitten had blood in his stool and so I took in a stool sample to get a fecal test. It wasn't even run until the following day because the lab tech was out, and when I called in, they told me it was negative. This was strange to me as he had just gotten off a course of medicine for giardia, and I had assumed that it came back. I asked if they were sure the test was right, and after asking around, the receptionist told me yes, that I should just wait and watch my kitten to see if he would get better. I tried to ask some more questions about giardia and how it can reoccur since the first time the nurse didn't give me any information about it, just the name and what medicine I needed. The receptionist again didn't know anything. At this point I was getting frustrated and so I took my kitten to another vet; they diagnosed him with giardia immediately, as well as a bacterial overgrowth and feline herpes which had caused him to become mostly blind in one eye. I was appalled that the Ann Arbor Animal Hospital had not caught any of this in the exam, and that two fecal tests missed the bacteria. I called back asking if I could get a refund for the second fecal and to express concern about the missed diagnoses, and was treated extremely rudely by the director, who told me to "not ever interrupt him again" while he gave me a long-winded lecture about how I was completely ignorant about the nature of lab tests and how they can be interpreted, and that it wasn't their tests, but ME who was mistaken. He refused to offer any sort of refund because it was "only 22 dollars." I told him I would never be going back. If you want to be treated with rudeness, wait forever in their waiting rooms, and receive bad treatment and poor or no guidance, by all means go here. If you actually care about your animal, go somewhere else. more

15 years experience 4/24/2007

I will never use a different vet as long as these people are here. There is a tremendous amount of skill and caring there, and they've pulled my dog through a nearly lethal poisoning (I think their close monitoring of tricky IV treatment saved his life), one operation (removing a type of convoluted tumor that was very fast growing and "guaranteed" to come back in 6 months - Dr Smith removed every speck of it and it's been 14 months with no sign of regrowth), and now they're doing very effective treatment for my pet's doggie Alzheimer's. I once took in a sick mouse and it seemed like they were as careful with it as with any animal they work on. Much of the staff has been there for the whole 15 years and they remember everything. more

Ann Arbor Animal Hospital 5/26/2006

I didn't have the greatest experience with the Ann Arbor Animal Hospital. The hours are first-come, first-serve. I felt that I had to wait for too long before I had contact with the vet. I also didn't feel that the customer service that I experienced was adequate. During my visits, I felt the staff didn't acknowledge me as I came in and spent more time talking amongst themselves than attending to the clients. I originally had complaints about the medical care that my cat received but I was contacted by the Ann Arbor Animal Hospital and it was suggested that I remove it. Although what I stated was what I understood from the appointments, I don't have the time to deal with a lawsuit. As such, my criticisms of the Ann Arbor Animal Hospital are limited to the customer service and wait times. more

Hospital for Animals 8/19/2005

The Ann Arbor Animal Hospital is absolutely outstanding. If you care about your pets, then you have got to use this animal hospital. The diagnoses are always right on target, but what is more important is that the veterinarians are always extremely kind and gentle to your pets. I would not take my pets anywhere else. more

Ann Arbor Animal Hospital 7/5/2005

Unfortunately, my doggie was hit by a car last week and I was in a panic. It was after normal vet. hours, so I went to the Animal Hospital on Liberty Street. The staff was wonderful, the office call was only $40, and the vet drew up an estimate of the procedures that we could do, but left it up to me, as to what I wanted to proceed with. She wasn't pushy, very informative and left it up to us as to what we wanted to do with our doggie. Thank goodness nothing major was wrong and we went home with some meds and the doggie is doing great now. I really liked this animal hospital, very clean, easy parking and great staff! more
