What a place! Learning dancing and more! Life lessons in a safe environment, family welcomed to stay and wait for student, has a play place for siblings to play, a quiet area for ...

Dance is supposed to be fun and challanging, but most of the time it became just a chore, until you had a show to do, where you could be on stage and be free. Many of the teachers...

Ignore the negative reviews. 8/6/2007

Many dance studios are notorious for bashing the better, more successful studios in order to drum up business. That seems to be the case in the several negative reviews posted here. Anita's deserves the wonderful reputation it has and don't let some disgruntled former students/employees tell you otherwise. It's true that the studio has high standards for its dancers and can be strict at times. However, the atmosphere is fun and all about learning to interact and work well in a group environment. Sure, it's not the right studio if you want to be a professional ballet dancer, but the Anita's is the opposite of pretentious. Despite what another poster wrote, you DO NOT pay for classes that you miss. And the recitals are great. If you want your child to learn dance in a incredibly family-friendly environment and make lifelong friends, this is the place for you. Pros: Great price, great shows, clean & wholesome environment Cons: Lacking in some technical areas, in the most advanced difficulty levels more

DO NOT PUT YOUR CHILD HERE! 8/6/2007

I attended Anita's Dance Center for 13 years. I completely agree with the other negative review. Teachers are often young, high school girls (I was one). After getting into the real world of dance, you realize the style and technique of the this studio is very behind the times. More importantly, Anita and Julie (her sister) are known for favoritism and not being fair or actually focusing on talent. It is very much a studio that is based who the owners decide to like. Talent or dedication has nothing to do with how you are treated. If your life (parents or students) is not 100% dedicated to being at the studio at the drop of a dime, you will be singled out and basically treated horribly until you will want to leave. I have also heard (from people who have worked at the desk) about some questionalbe things going on with payments and basically, in a word, ""stealing"". I would never give a bad review just to be spiteful or mean, but I would hate for some kid or family to have to go through the depression and anguish that place put me through. Pros: Dance is a great sport for kids Cons: Ownership, teaching, skills, behavior of employees, lack of respect, expensive more

It's not what it seems 6/7/2007

Although it has an overall positive reputation, I would not rate Anita's Dance Center as the best in the community. I attended classes here for 13 years and taught for two years. Most of the teachers are high school students, some with very little dance experience. Ten years ago, there was much more individualized attention, but as the studio grew in size, this diminished quickly. Class sizes have grown to upwards of 20 to 25 students, which is especially detrimental to younger children who need the extra attention and patience. Many of the younger students enjoy their time in class, but the older students get put by the wayside if they do not join one of the three performance-focused dance companies. Membership in these companies is costly and time consuming. Students must attend class two to three times a week and also must pay for missed weeks, regardless of the reason for the abscence. Also, they are expected to buy multiple costumes at over $80 apiece. If these expenses are not met, students are not allowed to dance in the recitals. The pressure to be in the companies is so great that many older students quit and find other studios. Since there is no method for evaluating teacher performance, there have been many incidents of inappropriate teacher behavior that goes unnoticed or ignored, resulting in the continued reputation for ""good values."" I am disappointed to say that the standard of excellence at Anita's has been quickly diminishing, and I would highly suggest researching other studios for more individualized attention and better quality instruction. Pros: Great recitals, variety of class offerings Cons: Big classes, unskilled teachers, little personalized service more

Best teaching you'll get 4/18/2007

Anita's dance center is the most funnest place I've gone. The teachers are awsome. I go three time a week I wish I went more. Everyone is so friendly there, it always puts a smile on my face. When I get ready for dance I always know that there are friendly and caring people waiting for me. i have atteded Anita's dance center for seven years and I loved ever since. Pros: teaching Cons: I love it! more

Caring, Professional, FUN, Affordable! 11/2/2006

I have a young daughter who was on a local competitive dance team. After about 2 months she got tired of doing just a ""pom pom"" routine and wanted to really learn how to dance! We now attend Anita's and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else! I have all 3 children in classes including my son and my 3yr old daughter! Anita is a very kind and caring woman, always available to help with a smile, and her staff is knowledgable and great with kids! Nothing but professional! \r Try Anita's Dance Center and you won't be dissapointed! YOu only pay for the classes you attend and your child (or yourself) will be constantly evaluated and kept in a class that is at your level - even if they have to move you in the middle of a session. This was the best decision we have ever made for our kids! Their talents are being nurtured and they are having TONS of fun! more

great morals and values! 12/26/2005
