I wanted to express my thankfulness for the wonderful staff on 9-3-12 to take care immediate of my beloved Maine Coon cat Peepers who was taken in immediate for a life threatening condition and eventually he was in grave condition and was elected by me to take him out of pain & misery and comfort his body & soul to rest in peace. I surely miss him beyond words...and Dr. Miller was so professional, compassionate, informative of his condition and plight that was very comforting to me and Amanda was so compassionate in her thoughts to me and Peepers and it was with gratitude that I was very thankful for these wonderful people, care and in the midst of very trying time for me to lose my beloved cat. Thank you so much for the card that had been sent to me for Peepers and that was such a sincere gesture. more

Just wanted to write and comment on what a wonderful place AERC is. I can't thank EVERYONE enough for all their incredible efficiency and knowledge and getting our dog, Sandy, back to ""normal."" The stubborn stone blocking her bladder was putting our dogs' life in danger. Dr. Longbottom and Jessy knew exactly what to do and the steps to take to get that out of her. The surgery with Dr. Parr was risky and had various outcomes depending on what they found when they went in, but thankfully, they were able to remove the stone and rescue Sandy from such pain and misery. I appreciate Dr. Longbottom for putting in overtime to assist in the surgery. I appreciate the kindness from them and the incredibly through explanations of the scenerios that would follow. They constantly kept us abreast of everything going on step-by-step. There was no question we asked that they couldn't answer. I felt incredibly satisfied and relieved we had taken Sandy there and knew she was in superior care. I was so thankful someone was open at 4 in the morning to help us with our situation. I was so impressed that the actual Doctors themselves would take our phone calls immedicately, Dr. Parr, and not have to leave a message. All the technicians were so helpful, Angela, Amanda, and Becca. I only wish I lived closer to have them as my primary vet for Sandy. I also appreciated everyone calling throughout the weekend to check on the status of Sandy. To be honest, without them, Sandy may not be alive today. You made this 13 year old dog happy as a 2 year old puppy again !! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU more

We have only been there once and that was the best experience. Our 18 year old started having problems moving around. It was clearly due to her age. They gave her some med just to make her comfortable. We lost her a few months ago, but it had to be the best experience within such a practice for her. more

I have really only used this place for their low cost spaying and neutering. I just had my male cat neutered and got his rabies shots for $70. You first have to go to the York SPCA to take advantage of these reduced prices. The SPCA then gives you a voucher and you call here to set up your appointment. I had our female cat here a few years ago to get spayed as well. more

We needed to get our dog Willow spayed as she was just past 1 year and we are letting her out on a line in the yard now that it is spring and we take her to the Dog Park frequently. We stopped in at the SPCA on the trail and they referred us to the Animal Emergency and Referral Center of York. We did have to pay slightly more since she was 2 lbs over the 50 lb limit and she was in heat, but that is neither here nor there. We dropped her off and she was ready to be picked up in the evening, no overnight stay necessary.\r They gave a small amount of medicine for her and we chose to get the Elizabethan cone so she wouldn't be licking at her incision site. Willow recoved very quickly and was mellow for a couple of days, but her overall attitude is still the same, a high energy mixed pointer puppy! I would recommend the place since they know what they are doing and I was not waiting long at all. We were notified when she was ready and I was greeted in a friendly and polite manner. If I ever needed the service to spay or neuter and animal or if there were an emergency situation (I would hope not) I would not hesitate to go here. more

I had to take my beagle here at 2:30 am one morning. She had come down with severe symptoms of Lyme disease. They were completely professional and were waiting for us when we arrived. We were the only patient there at that time and received immediate treatment. The tech and Dr. O'Donnell explained the disease and treatment quite well. The initial cost for the center to see us was $75 compared to the other emergency clinic located in Mechanicsburg- they want $99 just to see the animal. more

If you ever need an emergency vet, and I hope you never do, this is the place to go. The doctors, techs and staff are amazing, kind, gentle, and happy to help you in your time of need. I never knew about this place until my dog started having seizures one night. I've had to use their services 3 times and am always impressed. I should mention their services aren't cheap, but they are fully staffed 24/7, I've walked in at 9pm at night and at 3:30am and they are there waiting to help. I can't stay enough good things about them! more

We recently required the services of Animal Emergency Center of York because it was a Sunday and our normal vet practice of FOUR doctors was not available. Our need was the most difficult for any pet owner not to mention our pet lived with us for fifteen and a half years. The staff was extremely kind and courteous to us. Even though it appeared to be fairly busy with people waiting in the waiting room they took us to the comfort room in short order. The staff assured us our decision was in the best interest of our pet which eased our pain. I would not hesitate to recommend them. As far as costs, when I spoke to them prior to our arrival the front desk staff stated this was an emergency clinic and the cost would be more that our normal vet. Just like in the case of going to the ER at a hospital over your family doctor, it is going to cost more. I have no complaint about their charges. more
