With so many solid Italian restaurants on the Upper East Side, there is no reason to waste your time with this cheesy effort at an Italian atmosphere. The food is okay, but the entire experience is not worth it at all. more

Superb Food and Super Friendly Service at an Affordable Price 12/28/2006

I've taken my girlfriend to this place several times, and it has always been a pleasant treat. The man who seats you (whom I believe is the owner) is such a nice person, making sure that you feel welcome and appreciated for your business. The place may be old, but it is decorated beautifully to suit the ""Angels"" motif. The food has been wonderful so far, you get a lot at the moderate prices. Plus they include in your meal, the most delicious homemade bread I've ever tasted. Pros: Service, Food, Prices more

good service, nice place, food is pretty good too. 11/16/2006

first off im almost positive the guy that seats you is related somehow to george carlin and hes really nice to boot. The wine list is especially affordable and there are a ton of choices on the menu as well as a bunch of healthy options. Should definetly go if your in the area try it out its not bad at all and very resonable priced. Pros: wine list, value overall good experience Cons: not really any more

Great Bargin! 11/15/2006

You can't beat this place for a bargin! Huge, fantastic portions of pasta for $10.00 or so. The service is always friendly, and you are made to feel that they truly appreciate your business. Pros: Friendly service, great prices more

great garlic bread 11/14/2006

This place has the best garlic bread you will ever taste! Overall, the food is great in general and the staff is very friendly. However, the decor is very cheesy and it's Christmas year-round. The food is also a bit overpriced in my opinion. Pros: great garlic bread, good neighborhood spot Cons: bad decor more

GREAT LOCAL PLACE - A GREAT BARGAIN!! 8/12/2006

On a recent Friday night, as we strolled to Angels, we passed a dozen restaurants doing virtually NO business! Not so at Angels! The two storefront restaurant was virtually full and for good reason! Angels serves large portions, at New York CHEAP prices, and very good food! We especially enjoyed the owner's VERY friendly and attentive interaction throughout our meal! We left feeling comfortable and pleased!! Like most excellent restaurants, two visits should sell you on the solid bargain of Angels! Pros: The ambiance of the room on the LEFT is preferable to the right [for us!] more

Mmmmm 7/26/2005

Worth a trip across the country for the Gorgonzola Bread alone. Then you add low, low, low prices and friendly service...can't go wrong. Pros: food, low price, service more

Vongole Con Pompodore 8/10/2004

For anyone who thinks food at Angels is bland, order the Vongole con Pompodore, which is linguine in a red, spicy clam sauce. It's my favorite dish there. I won't even order linguine with clam sauce anywhere else because I can't find one as good. I've tried many, many dishes at Angels over the years I have been going there, and they've all been quite good. There's a dish with lobster and a cognac sauce that takes a close second to my vongole con pompodore. I almost always go home with leftovers and the prices are very, very reasonable. My friend and I usually sit in the smaller half of the restaurant, which doesn't get very crowded at all!! Oh, and yes, the gorgonzola bread is OUTRAGEOUSLY GOOD Pros: Great Pasta, Inexpensive, Not overly crowded more
